Well benimaru is the type of character who usually analyzes the situation then decides what he is going to do but it is very likely that he starts with a fire hand sword or breaking the environment and using it as flaming projectiles.
We also have to take into account his personality, if he sees that a fight is not worth it he will simply try to end the fight immediately and if he sees that the opponent is not exactly weak but not exactly comparable to him then he will show off a bit and keep a wary eye for anything unusual.

Excalibur which is a plasma sword, can't cut the demon infernal, yet when Benimaru does Amaterasu and destroys the Infernal. This attack is pretty massive too.
So that sword aint doing much with a longer reach, that'll just allow Benimaru more time to dodge and fly around. Also is the sword resistant to heat that great? Not saying Benimaru is jsut gonna spam his amaterasu but if it's powerful enough he may just amaterasu it.
