Cyberpunk Discussion Thread

Just binged the anime. Damn...

No happy ending for anyone in Night City

Just finished Edgerunner, it got me choked up at the end, pretty good anime.

But with that, i must say, how in the living **** did V beated AS? Like the guy with the gear to tear through a small army barely put up a fight against Adam yet V and 2 other person killed him... And wasn't Adam supposed to have that Super skeleton as gear since it was made for him? But well Cyberpunk 2077 is already out so i guess we can only scale V above David showing.

just goes to show how insane V actually is on the Cyberpunk food chain dude is up there

Explosions rapidly lose speed. By the time they got to David the shockwave is barely faster than a bullet.
Still, he did perceive it at crawl speed. Not sure if it'd be better than the multiple times he completely freezes bullets while he moves a bunch though.

I can’t remember him ever doing this, I recall him perceiving missiles in slow motion but that’s about it.

He freezes multiple bullets as he runs here. You can see them as white dashes, and also the guns are in mid-fire.

Honestly kinda crazy, cause in this scene it's not even like time slow or the world moving at snail pace, it looks like straight up time stop lol.

Time to make so much spite matches for Adam Smasher
Tz Pi Li from Pili Puppet Show is the one I choose to stomp Adam Smasher. How strong Tz Pi Li is? He upscales from characters who upscales from characters whose average punches generates more energy than the the explosion of Arasaka Tower.

In-lore it's basically supposed to be percep manip, yet even in the camera footage it looks like Dave moved incredibly fast. Though the game also reflects this by having you move much faster relative to other enemies when using Sandevistan.

Compositing what we know, it's basically something akin to Raiden's Blade Mode where they gain increased speed alongside fast perception.

The strongest Sandevistan in the game slows time by about 10x, and then given David and Smasher were still able to run fast in that time, they would need to move around 10x in order to move even just relatively normal while everyone is slowed to an extreme extent.

Anyone here's a scan from the 2020 RPG manual, Sandevistan and Resnikov basically give you a flat bonus to Initiative and it's difficult to quantify for VsBattle purposes.

Anyway, I wouldn't take the scenes at face value since sometimes everything's frozen while David moves and other times, things move in slow motion. Personally looking at all three instances of Sandevistan, I think it's better to assign a flat value for the perception slow and presume a speed boost instead to compensate for the obvious disparity in speed when using cyberware that presumably just boosts reactions and reflexes.

I don't see why we can't just calculate David's speed feats and scale it to others with high-grade Sandevistans. There's some inconsistency with it, sure, but that's with all series. Nothing even ever contradicts his speed since theres basically no one comparable to him in that aspect except Adam Smasher (When he also uses a sandy).

It will be listed as Perception Manipulation and Statistics Amplification in P&A as well.

I'm fine with it ultimately, I'm just being cautious about it given what both video game and RPG values are suggesting could potentially be juxtaposed against what the anime suggests, and I would rather just take all of the media into account than purely interpret based on the anime. I'll complete a full read-up of all the RPGs and the game equipment, and wait for calculations on the speed as well.

On the other hand, do y'all see any good 9-B or above feats to calc? (Before episodes 9 and 10)

Because it's inconsistent with itself in terms of what speed boosts it gives and it's inconsistent with other media. We shouldn't take a singular high value from the anime and backscale people to it when the anime itself isn't consistent at times.

Sandy in game still lets you percieve bullets in slow mo and move pretty decently to avoid them so it's not all bad but yeah it doesn't statue them not in game

It's really not that inconsistent with itself. There's just times where he seems faster than other times.

And, I don't see why you would take game mechanic stuff in 2077 over how it's shown in the anime considering the game obviously has to have a limit for something like that. And in the RPG thing posted it doesn't contradict the anime either.

Honestly agree as suggested prior we should look at all forms to get the best interpertation for this one and the anime doesn't really contradict the game it just has better displays at times but most of the time it still falls within the stuff you've seen in the series be it game or anime

I also see absolutely no reason that David shouldn't scale to his own feats in the anime (It'd be weird to call everything an outlier or something because the game shows it differently). Same with Adam Smasher who scales directly to him. To me it just seems like the anime is showing what the game can't (due to the fact that it'd be way too broken). It's the same as how a lot of anime and fighting games nerf the characters abilities because they obviously would be way too busted otherwise.

Literally just this

I don't think you can really assume the intent of the writers or creators like that. You could just as easily assume it to just be a stylistic choice given what we see in the anime is practically on-brand for what Studio Trigger and any anime does, and not really any attempt to just go beyond the supposed "limitations".

The scan above literally states that even catching one is a pretty hefty feat, "one in a million" to just catch one with the help of neuralware, while you showed above that David statues bullets with his own neuralware. Even that gap in speed is inconsistent between "could possibly do it" versus "could easily do it"

As I said, I have zero issues with using anime feats but I just have an issue with assuming it to take precedence over its source material. Hell, Cyberpunk 2077 has NPCs blocking bullets with their swords, who am I to really say whether it's inconsistent with 2077? I just don't want to take the best-looking feats at face value to inflate numbers without considering other feats as a whole. It's about a balanced approach instead of making loads of assumptions that immediately allow you to use the best feats without regard for the info that might oppose or contradict it.

I really don't think it's right to say that all of David's feats which he constantly performs are outliers in his own scaling because of the game.

That sounds ridiculous.

Where exactly did I say or imply this? I literally just said "I'm okay with anime feats", notice that I never said outliers either? I'm just concerned about inconsistencies and anime taking precedence over other material, we go through each feat with scrutiny, not dismiss them for being from a particular source.

We could just get calcs for the anime and see how it lines up with V's at least hypersonic rating and maybe even calc some of the obvious subsonic-supersonic speed feats in the game

The pool of feats that are available in 2077 and the ttrpgs are comparable to the conventional anime feats at a glance, so in case anyone is worried that we're just going to toss the anime feats into the bin, the only feats this method would invalidate are the ones where David completely outspeed he wouldn't be able to logically statue by the logic of the setting anyway.

Definitely but that should still ofc be case by case
Anyway just gonna back my statement up

Glad you found this because I was looking in game for shards while playing to no avail (well im actually playing it rn)

Since the thread is a discussion thread about Cyberpunk series, I'm here to ask how hacking in Cyberpunk series works. Or more accurately, does hacking in Cyberpunk series capable of hacking non-digital cyborgs? Does hacking in Cyberpunk series capable of hacking cyborgs who never have connection to networks?

The chips that people have in them are linked to the neural network making them hackable

A bit of lore on the cybernetics

Most of this is fluff but the part I already said about this chips linkage
