One would need power enough to annihilate the planet itself in order to destroy the aethernet. If this was on the same level, then it was physically, magically impossible to destroy.

His aim wasn’t to stop the god from ruling the world. His only drive was his personal feelings. His wish to take revenge for his friend.
“Exult in the silver skies: Vernal Diel.”
The Dark Sword in his hand turned into an aether blade, shining silver.
He stabbed it into the Atlas’s head as he landed. They would use the Dark Sword as the connection terminal, the same way they did for unlocking the seal on the remote shrine.
The blade dug into the body incapable of receiving any attack, physical or magical, having changed into an immortal-like composition and obtained logical strength on the level of the aethernet.

Where did it stated he cut that thing like butter?
I know he damaged that with his second form of the sword. Though I'm wondering if it was done with dura neg since it's specifically damages soul/information.

My guy the "Cut like butter" is just to emphasize how effortlessly he damaged the Machine God with his sword. And yeah I don't think it's done through AP either, but most likely due to dura neg or its ability to slice through anything
 
Yeah most likely. Also I just remembered his sword was compared to Gram Holy Sword, which can cut through any phenomenon, including concepts
This blade could kill an immortal with a soul close to a higher incorporeal being’s, and so it could slice the soul of one such being incarnated. And in its pursuit of a function to kill immortals, the soul armament attained a shine similar to that of the Hero’s Holy Sword, Ixasorde.
Such was the Dark Sword in its second form—Vernal Diel.

Ixasorde’s power was to cut through any phenomena. Absolute Slash. Gram yelled the name of its light:
“Alwing!”
He scooped the sword upward in a silver curve that clashed with the red spear of the god.
“RAAAAAAH!!”
He followed through the swing with an angry yell.
A silver light that slashed concepts apart.
A simple beam that flew at the speed of light was nothing the Holy Sword couldn’t deal with. The Hero effortlessly struck it out..

The verse isn’t 2B - 2A currently. The statement in the early chapters that suggest that gets further elaborated later and shows that they were referring to possible worlds, not an actual reality

Veltol was a darkling-all immortal beings without exception. Immortals were, naturally, beyond the concept of death. However, even souls became worn and wathered. No matter how undying the flesh may be, souls were not indestructible. A soul would eventually perish once all of its powers had been exhausted.

Veltol himself created Methenoel to bypass that destruction.
The purpose of Methenoel was to conquer that destruction. It was a cosmic endeavor to revive body and soul even after both had rotted and perished

His return had only been possible through the power of Methenoel, a type of reincarnation magic Veltol himself had created to tie his memories and physical form together with his soul, then convert that into ata and send it to the future

Nothing there about the soul being fundamental information, instead there is a spell that convert memory, soul and body into data. Data and Info Manipulation(type 2) for Methenoel is valid
