DC Rating Revamp Project (Why 4-B is wrong whether or not it's an upgrade or downgrade)

Shazam being weaker than PC Supes cannot be correct. It's all over the place, so...

Anyway, that doesn't really answer my question. How does his durability goes down from 4B all the way to 5C and even lower sometimes?

Because the writers want to make some semblance of a story and do not care about the powerscaling implications.

In the real world, you cannot hold back durability. In comics, some characters officially severely hold back against most opponents, especially in populated settings, to account for that the writers cannot constantly have them completely overpower everybody and blow up the local solar system or similar.

Why, of course, but that's not enough of an explaination for all the low showings lol.

Edit; I was wondering if there is a canon explaination for it.

There really ain't any explanation from memory outside of "the writers didn't think about a bunch of nerds powerscaling Superman"

I guess imma have to wait for Firestorm or someone to post some scans of this aura I keep hearing about.

Eh idk about that. In some fights I can recall (eclipso one eg), Cap was clearly superior. And he wasn't "holding back"

Also the magic excuse doesn't really hold up most times cause Cap's powers are developed as divine, and not magical most of the time.

This is my first time hearing about Superman intentionally lowering his durability somehow as a form of holding back.
Sorry, it's actually a Bio-electric aura, and apparently I'm told it's All-Star Superman exclusive.

So Superman makes the enemy thinks he's hurt when he's actually not. That only explains getting knocked around rather than actual injuries.
Well his suit does like torn up as well in the first scan, not sure if that’s from the same guys or not. He seemed to be scratched in the last 2 scans as well. So I think this does support him being capable of holding back his durability like his AP, or at least convincingly faking getting hurt.

Regarding the statistical analysis, I'd appreciate any help in translating items from my Superman feat timeline into the calculations spreadsheet.
I’m not sure if you linked the right doc, these are all of Fan’s debunks to Superman’s tier 2 feats. If you guys want I might be able to clarify some feats for you on Discord or something. I’m also willing to help with the calculations spreadsheet albeit will be relatively busy for a few days. Wouldn’t it be easier to have a spreadsheet by joules though for 3D AP feats?

Sorry, wrong link. That was a mix of both mine and fan's work. The original link should be good now. I'll be adding columns for calculations links and values

Durability going down is just stupid. Superman would have no reason to do that other than that specific instance where he made it appear like he was hurt. Also, Green Lantern’s have at least two High 4-C feats. That new issue Ant references and John tanking Xanshi exploding.

Thank you for helping out Firestorm808.

So what should we do with Superman's statistics? Simply scale him to the High 5-A Mageddon feat, or do we have something more impressive to use that is of reliable quality?

You know what will get us the most reliable statistics for someone like Superman?

Different keys for the major authors. They all have varying power takes. So... Just to make it simpler for everyone, we divide by authors. Looks weird and seems like a lazy way out, but it's possibly the best solution we have. Just my two cents.

There are too many prominent Superman authors for that to work.

Lmao make everyone Tier 1

This is my take on the era thing tbh

Well, maybe we could make Byrne-era Post-Crisis Superman 7-B from being knocked out by a nuclear explosion, Morrison era JLA Superman High 5-A for moving Mageddon, and Post-Our Worlds At War (Mongul training) Superman even higher if we have some useful feat from that era?

It would likely be impractical, due to his comparative power with other characters, though.

Thank you for the support. As I mentioned above, it might cause problems due to him scaling to other characters though.

I believe there’s higher feats for Byrne era (saw an RT with some eras stuff somewhere)

True but we could possibly get away with it

Either scaling characters to their own feats/eras or use certain charcters’ Variable tiers (GL’s) to account for it

Looks like I'm late, but what rating are they getting changed to?
I am not sure. The now accepted Mageddon feat is High 5-A, but I do not think that I have yet received a response regarding if Superman has any reliable more impressive feats after that.

I think lunge's points on the lanterns should make High 4-C fine. Clark's generally shown to be superior than the average lantern

Okay. I would appreciate further community input regarding whether we should scale him to Kyle's and Hal's respective High 4-C supernova feats, or his own (possibly just High 5-A) feats.

Kyle and Hal are not just regular Lanterns though.
