I'm currently working on updates to some verse pages and profiles that lack information and are outdated, not to mention I have some family drama going on currently. so I don't know if I can help with this, sorry.

Well, there are 1232 verses in total and we have 9 candidates here. I think we can start this project now and each of us can first go through 100 verses to check the ones that have special characters in them and modify the template after checking the tag URL accordingly. We will see about the remaining 332 verses later if somebody is interested in helping out more.

As you can see in the verses category page, each page contains a total of 200 verses, that are divided in 2 columns or 100 verses each. So it is easier to allot them.

@AKM sama - I will handle verses from 007 to Bayonetta (Verse).

@Celestial_Pegasus - From Beastars to Crusader Kings

@Mr._Bambu - From Crysis to Ed, Edd and Eddy

@Colonel_Krukov - From Edens Zero to Granny (Game)

@Sir_Ovens - From Grappler Baki to Invaders of the Rokujouma!?

@Duedate8898 - From Ip Man (Film Series) to Log Horizon

@Elizhaa - From Looney Tunes to Nicktoons

@Starter_Pack - From NieR: Automata to Rampage (Verse)

@Tllmbrg - From Ratchet & Clank to Sin and Punishment

If you have any queries or doubts, feel free to ask. And remember that a few verses might not have any tags in the forum because there might be no discussions about them yet, so even if your template is correct, the link wouldn't work.

Big thanks to everybody that are helping out.

I noticed that the discussions templates are currently generally placed beneath the categories in the verse page source codes, which makes it far more likely that others will accidentally remove them in later edits.

So you'd like them above categories? Noted.

works for me, for whatever reason I didn't even think to just make a test thing for him. cheers.

Experiencing a strange problem with the Iron Kingdoms tag, the link doesn't link properly even though it matches the url for the page. Any idea what's going on here?

It appears that some tags are formatted like https://vsbattles.com/tags/vsbattles-katanagatari/ while others are formatted like https://vsbattles.com/tags/iron-kingdoms/

The template assumes the former, Iron Kingdoms uses the latter.

I think a change to the template may be necessary to correct this. I'm guessing that the issue came about because the tag wasn't imported from the old vsbw forum threads, but was newly made in a thread posted a little over a month ago.

The "rename" can also only apply to the discussion tag now that I think about it, so the pages could remain the same name-wise, just with the tags on their case specifying the respective verse it refers to.

I have asked our system administrator for input about this problem.

Hmm

It's because the tags that were imported from the old forum have "vsbattles" in the URL. For example: https://vsbattles.com/tags/vsbattles-katanagatari/

While the tags that were added post-forum move don't have the word "vsbattles" in them. For example: https://vsbattles.com/tags/iron-kingdoms/

So that's the problem. If this was imported from the old forum, it would have been: https://vsbattles.com/tags/vsbattles-iron-kingdoms/

So we can either create a second template to accommodate for the lack of "vsbattles" and add this new template to new verses, which will cause more confusion and will be difficult to keep track of, I think.

Or we can just create the new tags in a way that their URL match the previous ones, which will be more consistent going forward. But we'll have to check with Sultan for that.

Would an entirely new template need to be created?

Could you not do something like, set up the template so that by default it includes vsbattles, but if you pass through a certain option (i.e. {{discussions|mode=novb}}) it doesn't include that part of the URL?

That would also fix it in a uniform way, yeah.

Have we spoken to anyone who understands webpage design in their format?

Hop only has experience with HTML, Basic, Python and Java on small levels, more of an engineering and networking techie.

Kind of curious why this is the best approach.

"Have we spoken to someone who understands webpage design" in regards to what?

We can meanwhile go ahead and handle the other verse pages and leave the new ones for later.

I am done with my list; I found an issue:
The other things I have fixed regarding the special characters; there are some discussion links that do not work because the tags don't exist on the site's tag yet.

Lucifer is another page that lacks "vsbattles" in the tag's URL.

Thank you very much for helping out. I appreciate it.

I need several pages open for editing to add the template, for they are admin locked.
