But to answer your question, they bring him back because they torture him by having him unwillingly cause death and destruction in the present by his mere presence, despite him doing everything he can to avoid humanity including burying himself and trying to sink himself to the bottom of the ocean they always bring him back. Theyve also brought him back to the real world from the afterlife and vice versa.
They torture him psychologically, to the point that they took his wife's soul, rewrote it so all she remembers is that she absolutely hates him, then made an artificial person so she could find him and tell him how much she hates him.
