All of the Versus Umbra profiles have the game's insta-kill mechanic listed as "Durability Negation and Statistics Amplification".

This insta-kill mechanic comes from the perk Slayer, which gives the character a 10% chance per second of instantly killing the enemy they're attacking. And the weapon M1 Garan, a WW2-era semi-automatic rifle that has a 40% chance per shot of instantly killing the enemy.

I gave these both dura neg and stat amp when making the profiles because the game wasn't clear about the mechanic behind these abilities, but Earl has suggested that it should be Death Manipulation. So, what power should be given for this mechanic?

Yeah as OP says it sounds like death manip as there is nothing implying stat ignoring or stat amp. Just says death. Seems a lot safer to assume death manip.

Bump.

Also an important note, this insta-kill mechanic works on mechanical enemies in the game, if that changes what ability it's likely to be.

Down with Death Manip. I'm fine with Dura Neg. It just sounds like a lucky shot, it isn't actively just snapping its fingers and the thing dies (the fact that it works on mechanical enemies also makes it sound like dura neg more than death manip since like... they aren't alive?)

Furthermore Death Manip requires more assumptions so age-old Occam's Razor comes into play.

So that'd be just Dura Neg without Stat Amp?

Bump?
