Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

rip ive never seen the anime but the manga was enjoyable until i had to wait monthly and forgot about it

I want there to be a shounen or seinen that is about sea faring, pirates ect. that isn't One Piece. The only other major sea-faring manga/anime I know of is Vinland Saga but it doesn't really count since its more historical rather than a nautical story with supernatural elements. I just want something other than One Piece. Bleach exists and yet exorcist manga is still at an all-time high, and yet we get 0 nautical stories...bit sad innit?
While it's entirely possible to be done, I think it may be just the sheer popularity of One Piece, which in Japan outstrips even Dragon Ball to an extent. It may cause authors to not try stories about pirates and editors shooting them down out of fear of being inevitably called a One Piece copy or just be "oh, so it's like One Piece, eh, I'll just stick to One Piece". Just a guess, I mean. But kinda reminds me what happens to mon franchises in the west. While in Japan it's already a established genre, here for a good while had a hard time breaking through because everything was inevitably called a Pokémon ripoff or overshadowed by Pokémon.

Decided to read Russian legends (bilini) and it's fun. Haven't read them before in a proper way but now that I am reading them it's actually peculiar seeing some wacky moments here.
I admit, I kinda wanted to power scale them but changed my mind. If I did power scale them I'd have a weirdly easy time. For some reason the sizes are all accurately mentioned. Oh this guy? He's three sazhjens tall (6.4~ meters). Oh his knife? That's 12 puds (195kg~). They're also pretty insane with feats like, Ilya Muromets tries to Joseph-Joestar his way out of an encounter with 40000 bandits and when that fails he takes his 652kg helmet, swings it so hard it creates entire alleys in their ranks and proceeds to solo them. Genuinely insane stuff. Rimuru needs some convoluted laser pointer-ahh set up to kill 10k soldiers, Ilya meanwhile swings his helmet a bit and ends their entire career.

The real person he's based on (St. Ilya) apparently was also pretty insane. Standing at 177cm (a head above the average person at the time) he had the nickname Chobotok because apparently he beat up an enemy with nothing but a boot (a chobot).

I think Akame Ga Kill had a sequel set in an archipelago, but the parts I read weren't especially good
