to be honest i wasn't aware about the fact that Luffy was put against so many pokemons XD

BTW, how do we treat the Fight-Type in the wiki? This is something I have been wondering from a long time ago.

Dragon brought that topic up but I'm not sure if any conclusion was made

I don't see why Martial arts shouldn't be counted as Fight-Type, tbh. The examples in that blog as to why we shouldn't treat them as equals doesn't prove it, actually. Comet Punch, Bullet Punch, etc, etc, don't have any indication as some kind of martial art is involved in that part.

Luffy uses Giant Tsuppari and calls it a day owo.

A punch is made of a hand going at high speed for both a martial artist as well as an average joe, the difference is the former knows where to hit for the best results and has learnt a proper way to conduct his body.

A martial artists attacks aren't made of some distinct element they just come from a skilled fighter, distinguishing between normal and fighting type moves just doesn't make much sense outside the context of pokemon

There's also the matter of what's considered a martial art, and what's considered a skill. There's definitely skill involved in a street fight, for example. Boxing and something like Taekwondo are very different forms of fighting but skill still factors in here as well. Military CQC stuff can be considered a martial art, even when a lot of some of the older ones consists largely of taking an opponent down then stomping them to death or shooting them, even things like swords can be considered martial arts. It's just better and less semantic to not try and equalize fighting or normal outside of pokemon.

Well Scrafty seems to be based more on a punk than a martial artist, so I guess you could argue skilled fighters without martial arts count as fighting type. Tho I still have issues regardless with equalizing these types

Pangoro is also a Jotaro (japanese teenager delinquent) without a specific martial art. Timburr's family also doesn't have any relation with the Fighting-Type but being very strong dudes. Beweare is, IIRC, really strong only and yet a Fighting-Type.

The same applies to few Fighting-Type Pokemon for some reason.
