My biggest hope for the game is that I won't have to spend 50% of my playthough on the inventory screen to keep switching out items.

Mixed feelings about the toy-like aesthetic, but still gonna play the heck out of the game and love it. The gameplay looks incredibly fun.

The cutscenes look beautiful.

I don't want mindless milking, I want new titles, if you want old games, they on Nintendo Shop, get yoself a controller or something.

Look what happens when you milk a series too much "cough" Skyrim and Dark Souls

Both those games are still Great Games so I'm not sure what your point is

I can mod vanilla Skyrim and it will look a 100% better than SE on Ultra.

Dark Souls Remastered was a joke, all it did was 60FPS and more lighting, which was exceeded even by DSFIX.

The conclusion here is that Remasters are mostly just quick Cash grabs due to laziness of the developers when they should be making new content

There's a difference between this and those remasters. They're remaking the entirety of Links Awakening from the ground up with new graphics (Not just the old sprites in HD) and a new Art Style, redoing the soundtrack, and likely making new gameplay adjustments to fix problems the original had due to hardware limitations on the Game Boy so I'd be hesistant to call this a quick lazy cashgrab.

I mean, for people who have a Switch and never played Skyrim or Dark Souls, such as myself, getting the chance to play those two in that capacity is a really great treat.

There might be a little milking there, sure, but it also provides an optimal playing environment for people who hadn't had a chance to get into the franchises in the first place. So, no need to hate on the remasters too harshly.

I can make the exact same argument for Link's Awakening, since I never had that on the Game Boy, nor did I pick it up in the eShop.

I think this is kind of also "tasty snack" before dinner. It's likely a newer Zelda title is already on the works, though in very early stages. Also, as said above, a remake brings a lot of stuff for older fans to find a new experience, not just repeating the original in a new console.

@Konaguna Sure in some cases but there's also the case of games being revitalized on a new platform so that a New audience can play them which is never a bad thing, I will never complain about good games being remastered to some degree because they deserve to be kept alive and played by new gamers to appreciate it. Okami being a great example of that, sure i agree that the minor improvements of Skyrim and Darksouls aren't anything to brag about but at the same time your counter-arguments are entirely based on the assumption that those players are playing on a PC, also most consoles are not backwards compatible at best they have specific exclusive games that can be played such as with Xbox and Nintendo's E shop, it would be impractical for them to have to buy a completely new console to play an older game they are interested in.

There's also a massive difference between a Remake and Remaster.

Exactly my point, they should invest their time into focusing on a new title, instead they made this... new link's awakening, which looks really bad right now imo, it looks like some poorly rendered Unity project, no offense, but this might be early development of the game idk.

There's lots of milking when it comes to remasters though... thas a fact, if you wanna play the game properly, then do it on PC, with mods and stuff

because I'm a PC mastertard

I love my PC but saying it's the only way to play a game properly is being dishonest.

there are a bunch of games that are outright horrible on PC.

(Looking at you Batman Arkham Knight and Force Unleashed also wont forget what they did to my Chrono Trigger)

There is no PROPER way to play a game, only preferences.

lets not GateKeep

disagree, it looks really colorful, the soft edges and clay like textures gives it a special charm

It's a matter of taste, honestly. The aesthetic was obviously a deliberate artistic decision rather than botched graphical efforts, in that regard it was well made, IMHO.

Hmm... "On the edge" means something like "angered or unnerved"? I didn't express myself properly, what I meant to say before is that I had mixed feelings, but that was mostly due personal preference as I don't think the style is bad by any means, just not my thing.

I just can't help but feel like what I saw was so unpolished, it felt so oversimplistic.

I like the new mechanics tho, and I will admit that the transition between graphics and looks is a massive improvement.

I still think they should have just focused on a new game, but it's nice to see some Zelda related stuff.

I do hope they remaster A link to the past, that game was legendary, and is one of the few exceptions that need HD

When will we get Pig Ganon in a 3D game?

And when I say pig Ganon, I mean the big blue fat pig with a trident.

Wasn't that what A Link Between Worlds was supposed to be?

It just wasn't the same though.

Sure the overlowrlds are nearly identical, some bosses and tracks are the same, but in the end it is still it's own game

Despite having mixed opinions at start, I'm starting to like the new art style. I only hope we get a lot of cutscenes like the one shown in the trailer.

I know they wanted to have a Zelda game every year so im assuming big AAA Zelda should come next year or there after so 2020 and 2021

No, a 3D Zelda game comes out every 5 years (MM being the only exception), with 2D Zelda games in between. 2020 is probably going to have nothing, 2021 new 2D Zelda game and 2022 new 3D Zelda game.

Am I the only one who does not want a BOTW sequel?

I feel like they really should bring back gerudo ganon, we've only seen him three times in a game

4 times if you count his Oracles artwork but it ain't in the game rip

Tfw human Ganon is more iconic than pig Ganon despite appearing less than half as many times.

Human: OoT, WW, TP

Pig: Classic, AoL (game over screen), ALTTP, LA (Shadow), OoX, FSA, ALBW, BotW

>Suddenly realizes that the remake of Link's Awakening is following in suit to Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee

>Also realizes a new Tetris game is coming for Switch

Right, so what other classic Game Boy game are you going to be remaking for us, Nintendo? My vote's on the Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.

They're going to flesh out the relationship between Link and Marin just for the sake of the Awakening. Everything involving Marin will be fully animated. Just watch.

If they make it like the manga where Link's horrified to find out the fate of the island and tries his damnedest to not finish his quest and get Marin off the island until Marin tells him to wake the Fish, accepting her fate, imma cry.

Also we already heard a glimpse of Marin singing the Ballad of the Wind Fish.

I regret only playing 2 Zelda games, the first and the last (BoTW) BoTW is a Game i love, but cant understand how can be to go to an o!d Zelda Dungeon.

Fun fact: Dark beast Ganon is absurd if you wear good armor, at best defense his giant laser will only deal 1/4 of a heart of dmg, Also he needs more than 3 hits to kill your horse (ganon has 74 attack i think, best horses have 300 hp) so you can get 1 dmg from ganon, and apparently to kill a horse the so feared calamity needs more than 3 shots to kill a horse xD

@Triforce: Ow... the ending... If the original was a gut punch, the remake cutscene, likely with orchestra will be a sledgehammer to the liver.

Kona does say something interesting, Blue Pig Dorf with his trident would be cool to see again. He could fit in a Toon Link game with some redesigns to make him scarier but stylized? I dunno, but they can adapt him to look good in newer styles.

...

Unpopular opinion: I've thought fora while that an Adventure of Link remake would have been cool, while keeping the side scroller style but polished with elements of newer games. Or perhaps that would be too much like a Metroidvania.
