Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

This is some tinfoil shit, but I wonder if the episode was actually scheduled to be right after Omnidock & had to be delayed. What if they made Moro reanimate the final clash because they changed their mind from digging something else up? He said the battle was finished before they even announced the kickstarter. Why stall?

Most likely because Joker vs Giorno was also already finished and they wanted to maintain the hype train of the show's return by revealing a brand new episode at the end of Omnidock instead of the one we already know about. I WISH your tinfoil theory was correct though. My guts tells me would most likely be in Eggman's favor

I don't know why a lot of people insist that Sonic should only kick in combat. Outside of Sonic Battle,I don't think he's ever primarily kicked for a significant stretch of time,in any continuity. I guess they associate them with him running fast, therefore his legs are powerful, but he does everything fast.

Hey, so I’m debating with a guy on a Death Battle server who’s claiming Solaris isn’t actually temporarily omnipresent and that the hedgehogs fighting it doesn’t give them immeasurable speed.

Here’s what he claimed:
Shadow's statement about needing Sonic to beat Solaris in relation to fighting him at these 3 points can only really indicate that past = present = future

when legitimately the present is infinitely lower than the future and past as that's a single point in time, while future and past are large stretches

it implies that Sonic is doing infinitely less work than both of the other two and for some reason they could cover all of infinite time except one specific time period for no reason

How’d y’all debunk this?

Proof for his first statement of past=present=future. Because it just sounds like his headcanon. They didn't need Sonic so he could fight "in the present", either. That's also headcanon. They just needed him to kill Solaris.

Yh, he’s basing it off of Shadow’s statement of Sonic needing to be there.

Tho, Shadow does fight in the past, Sonic the present, and Silver the future.

No. They don't fight in these specific time periods. That's headcanon based on one dialogue line. They just fight him across time in different time periods.

In that case, if they were fighting Solaris and moving throughout infinite periods of time, then why couldn’t one of them just fight Solaris himself?

I think they just needed the strength to fully kill him.

Or just have multiple characters to allow one to take a break and recharge because soloing the entire fight would be almost impossible with the form’s ring drain.

In that case, why isn’t the ring drain listed as a weakness for the Super States?

Power, at least according to the guides. Only Sonic had the power to defeat Solaris. Or what JJ said. They needed the three hogs to be there to fully defeat Solaris across all time.

Well, needing 3 of them to fully defeat him kinda makes it sound like each of them can’t fully go across all eras in time on their own, so there needs to be some other factor to keep immeasurable speed if it’s not power. So I just use the stamina arg

That’s true.
So how do we currently treat it? Cuz it’s either they can only go to a portion of points in time, or they can go to all points in time but there was some caveat preventing them from winning with just one character.

I imagine it's a mindset of "can't introduce a new playable character and not have them go Super", or something.

That isn't canon tho, even in 06 Sobic transformed without rings at all since he was dead

I mean from my perspective, I always assumed that it was because Solaris' temporal omnipresence would make him unkillable for even a Super form and they wanted to take him down simultaneously so Solaris wouldn't get the chance to recover.

This is off topic but I wanted to ask, how did you guys get introduced to this series?
I can't exactly recall since it was a while ago (quite literally, I think it was when I was 4 or 5), but I believe my mom got me Sonic Mega Collection and I played Sonic 3D Blast on it.

My memory is a little fuzzy on the subject, but I recall my first exposure to Sonic being Sonic Adventure 2: Battle when I spent a week at a children's hospital. It gave me a lot of joy back then, and the blue blur still brings me joy as a 23 year old.

This whole discussion reminds me of the BlackSonicpill.

The BlackSonicpill is the understanding that things in Sonic are bound to change around and be inconsistent. This is because the franchise has been running for so long and has a too many cooks in the kitchen sort of set up.

That's really cool!

I played the "SEGA Genesis Arcade Legends Volume II" Plug & Play, when I was 3. The first game you'd hover over on the menu, in this, is Sonic 2.
Then, I played Sonic Heroes, and Sonic Mega Collection Plus.

Sonic punches just as often as he kicks. Sonic Battle barely has him focus more on kicks.
Yeah so, there needs to be some reason why they couldn’t finish off Solaris with just one of them.
I think Sonic being the only one with the power to defeat Solaris implies Shadow and Silver couldn't power up that far by themselves, ngl...

Sonic 2 coop with my older brother on my parents' Sega Genesis. I was so young that I didn't care for the series, but then we got a Gamecube with SA1 DX and I fell in love with the franchise ever since.
