Part of what makes it so perfect is how they’re both Joker and Harley. Their tragic backstories emulate the overt, manipulative and controlling nature Joker demonstrates over her, and moreover, both react like her when confronted with their flaws (until she was recently put on the path of redemption in N52 and onward). Hell, the fact they ARE flawed and have DOUBTS to begin with put her in their lane, because despite how “pathetic” Joker is, he’s also FLAWLESS in his twisted nature. However, conversely, THEY’RE their own duo leader, ebb those traits onto others, and drip his philosophy when they’re on the attack. Their primary traits are also his—Cocky, witty, loudmouth, unexpectedly cunning, etc. Malicious and yet vulnerable.Good break down here.
Scourge and Surge is basically a form of evil Sonamy. Since Surge is Evil Sonic, and Surge is Evil Amy (a form of Girl Sonic). Hell, Surge was confirmed to have been made in mind with Amy so tying it together like this makes sense.
That’s actually exactly what I had in mind, specifically with how they played out in SA2 (she was Team Sonic’s Spy within the Ark) and—More recently—How Sonic Forces could’ve played out.Gave some feelings on Sonic and Rouge, but the dynamic reminds me of a typical cocky action hero with a femme fetal love interest. Like I said, Lupin and Fujiko is the dynamic I most immediately compare it to. But you can probably link it to many a James Bond relationship too.
Sadge.Your poor pockets
I think that’s how I’d approach it. They’d be going for NSA, but it would bloom into more over time as Sonic and Rouge go on more and more adventures, forcing each into each other’s shoes. The thing is, they’re uncompromising even in the face of that and probably would be against revealing how much they genuinely feel for each other (think Batman and Catwoman) due to their dynamic. It also creates the SEGA Mandated “Will-They-Won’t-They” to play with, and if they want to venture forward, would be the perfect way to more closely connect the Teams as well as play off narrative threads (She’s a GUN Free Agent and Confidant to Shadow), as well as perfectly opens up a path for their futures together.I like when people bring this ship up because it is literally like one of the least-expected ships that isn't a crack ship imo. Your take of the NSA approach was fascinating to think on, considering it's a more... unorthodox... approach to romance.
You know, Rouge with either Sonic or Shadow is a Bond type relationship, especially since Shadow's a freelance agent for GUN. Well, he'll work if his motives align with them that is.Part of what makes it so perfect is how they’re both Joker and Harley. I think Shadow is less Bond and—I know how this sounds—More Wick. You know, Rouge with either Sonic or Shadow is a Bond type relationship, especially since Shadow's a freelance agent for GUN. Well, he'll work if his motives align with them that is.

Yeah, more or less. A John Wick, or a Batman.I think Shadow is less Bond and—I know how this sounds—More Wick.
Flagships of Bond’s character are his mysterious (unexplained) backstory, his swave (flirty) character, his witticism and ego, his technology, etc. He’s the best, he KNOWS he’s the best, and he plays into how unparalleled he is through his character, having moments across the franchise of deeper introspection—Using each different story to unveil or reinforce aspects of his character as time passes. He fights the world even if it turns on him, out of his own morals and desire to see his principles held. This pretty closely matches Sonic.
Wicks is much more reserved, ebbing a cool—But not unfeeling—Stoicism. His backstory, despite being relatively simple with many gaps, is well known, singular, and continuous. It drives him through an insane rage, an anger. His life is focused on one person’s hope, and how that was taken away. How his happiness was taken away. His abilities, despite being much more action oriented, are simple. His reputation proceeds him as a monster, and he cares not for your view outside of recognizing you’re not what he is—The Best. He fights the world even as it turns on him, as he always has, and for no reason more. This aligns more with Shadow.
