Definitely no bans or even a warning are needed, but this thread should be monitored is all. User comes and says a Naruto revision is wank without explaining why. Can very easily cause a shitstorm of insults if gone too far.

Also, I might have come across as a bit confrontational so my mistake on that part if I did. Was only warning the user to not continue doing what he was doing so trouble wouldnt be stirred up.

Which replaces USERNAME with the name of who's reading. Meaning you are all seeing your own names being called.

It's a feature discovered earlier which uses @user to display the name of whoever's reading the post. Multiple people have been spamming at as jokes.
 
@CrimsonStarFallen, there is a big difference between spams and a couple of jokes; I draw the line at spams.
 
Is that really dangerous spam tho? So far it's only been used in Fun and Games threads, and i doubt it has caused any serious issues.

Besides, if people spam it too much, doesn't it make more sense to punish the spammers than to make an rule about it?

You're right; if it is spam, it is the spammer who should be punished rather than have rule about it. I am willing to change my mind of rules if it is used badly towards the wiki.

Mashu might be my friend here, but sometime he need to take his act really carefully...really REALLY carefully.

In Illumina downgrade thread, Matthew/Mashu say this:

"desperate ******* fans"

This kind of rally harsh insult tbh that i am, who is Mashu friend really feel ashamed about this.

That was a day ago, and Andy already handled it. Was uncalled for, but it's not needed here. And he was under a lot of stress when he wrote that. Staff reports should be taken to Human Resource Group members instead of here.
 
If he's under lot's of stress then he should not commented to that thread at all, pushing himself like that will just cause any major problem.

But since this will handled by HRG then alright i will leave it to them, my god this is surely messed up...

It happened in fun and games threads, which are for...well...fun. Having a rule against it or "punishing" someone for it is a massive overreaction.

Though common sense dictates that people obviously shouldn't use this feature anywhere other than F&G threads as it can cause confusion and derail important discussions.
 
Creating a rule against using it outside of fun & games threads might be an idea. Not a bannable rule obviously, just a guideline to avoid confusion and possible hostility,
 
While that would make sense in theory, I do not believe we need to create a rule for this. This is likely a sudden increase in popularity regarding the script, which will quickly devolve into obscurity again once the joke ceases being funny. And at this rate, that is honestly not going to take very long.

People that use it outside of Fun and Games can just be asked to stop in the thread. Besides, I would believe that inappropriate use of this script is covered under our guidelines to not derail a thread.
 
If the template was like being used for trolling, derail and malicious intent then well... we already have a rule against trolling, derail, spamming, etc. A new rule doesn't seem necessary.

I also have reason to think there is some brigading going on in that thread. The most recent comment from them was only posted a couple minutes ago but 5 users have already given it Kudos. And most are accounts that were only created today.

Normally, I think the case is waring-worthy but is incredibly supecious that these accounts are brand-new and kudoos the messages.

@Tyrone LDS's case is really suspicious as a brand-new account today so it is highly likely that he is a sock so I would not be opposed to a ban.

I think the other cases are similar to @Tyrone LDS's so I would not be opposed to a ban either for the other accounts.
 
Blocked Tyrone. The others do still have other contribs, and kudosing in itself isn't an offense as opposed to a possible indicator, so I'd wait for more on them
