can he really get that range before Hakumen killed him? I mean if Rick tries to portal his way and then try and kill Hakumen thats a definite chance for Hakumen to kill him, Rick needs to just straight up go all offense to win here.

Hakumen is nigh immune (not resistant, nigh immune, it will very little effect on him) to time manipulation

plus Hakumen has Earthbind A passive ability of Hakumen's. Whenever his sword, the Okami, comes into contact with a projectile, it instantly nullifies and destroys it, creating a temporary black hole-like void of vacuum energy that inflicts damage to those who come into contact with it equal to the nullified projectile's damage. Additionally, further projectiles that touch the Earthbind are nullified.

How can he make up for range gap?

I'd imagine hakumen could possibly destroy the ship in the time would take Rick to get in and seat himself inside it.

That's not how prep works.

You have prep, then once the fight starts, SBA is in play. Then he's at 4KM
