He COULD be intercepting the beams, but it'd make no sense, as there was tens of them and him taking 2 literally made no difference.
We also don't see him when Kizaru is about to split Bonney and Kuma in half.

Hard disagree. Even if we don't count Yamato, who's technically a former Beast Pirate, we still have Mr. Jackpot, Queen, and Jack, who, if working together, could likely pressure Kaidou for a bit. Adding in the Tobiroppo, X Drake is pretty good, and WW might be as well. Then add Hawkins, with his strange hax. The Orochi Oniwabanshu, who joined the Beast Pirates, have a guy who could briefly stall Zoro, meaning... well, that guy doesn't literally die if he gets hit, he just gets his bones shattered. They also have Fukurokuju, a guy slightly weaker than Raizo, and he can probably assist. Dropping in Apoo and an army of Numbers and fodders(most of whom would get floored by Hao bursts), Kaidou can't last forever. However, the main threat is King. Kaidou can annihilate any of these guys except him and Vinsmoke-amped Queen, who put up a good fight, even thought he would beat them down once he went all-out. Kaidou would basically be whooping their asses, but then more guys would show up and jump him, and some of them would actually do damage. All this while Kaidou is being forced to expend stamina and Haki to keep it up, and the Ancient Zoans have time to recover. It's a really close match, but it's, pun not intended, a numbers game.

I mean yeah that's pretty clearly what happened. He was trying to protect Bonney. He deflected a beam but then the other caught him. Nothing more, nothing less.Also you could argue, he risked himself taking damage to deflect the laser from reaching Bonney

I suppose you can argue that King could hurt Kaidou and take attacks from him due to his scaling to Zoro, but how do the others hurt him (outside of Queen's lasers and viruses perhaps)?

But other than that, Apoo should have some duraneg, like Killer's sonic waves, and Hawkins could hypothetically damage transfer if Kaidou ran out of Haki.

The Scabbards factually did damage Kaidou though.
