Oetsu is the god of sword cuz he is the one who makes them, not because he is a master at fighting.

The SS were fodder. He blitzed and one shot a squad of guys whose skill is not in swordplay and too slow to react aside from Askin who could only just dodge enough to not die instantly. Compare this to Unohana who knows 8 thousand styles and scales above the collective sword skill of SS which is far more than the "skill" required to blitz guys who suck in cqc and don't even have cqc weapons (bar Gerard). One shotting Ritters ain't even a feat when the Kenny that Retsu murdered for days on end no diffed 3 Ritters, one who explicitly had his skill and power.

She doesn't need to release her Zan to body him, just the pointy end.

What??? I know Oetsu and the Zero Squad in general didn't get the best treatment but Oetsu blatantly takes this. Zero Squad are>>>Gotei members. They were originally the only ones who could fight Menos, have been literally stated to be above the Gotei and their training methods can take someone from Lieutenant level to Senior Captain level+. On top of that Oetsu knew all that Yhwach was capable of, knew he had Yamamoto's Bankai but was still confident he could dismember Yhwach with a botched Zanpakutō.

The Zero squad as a whole is superior to the collective Gotei but Zero has muhfuckin Ichibe who trashes the Gotei and rest of Zero squad at the same time. The statement means nothing when you look at what these guys are good at and why they were added. Oetsu makes Zans, Hikifune developed the theory of artificial souls and inserting them into bodies, Senjumaru did ... something, Kirinji is a better healer than Unohana. Note how none of them have anything to do with combat.

Lieutenant to senior captain? When? Renji was already Captain level since SS ans has only been getting stronger since. Only reason he wasn't surpassing the Captains is because they trained as well. Rukia only hit Captain level and had her hax carry her against As Nodt.

Oetsu didn't know shit about what Yhwach had or else he would have known going for the SS was pointless. Sayafushi is botched in the sense that it is too sharp. Damn, what a terrible weapon to have in a fight -_- Yama's Bankai? The one that kills its own user after a short while? I'd be confident against a guy using a suicide move too. Also what does confidence even mean? The SS were confident and got shitstomped, Yama was confident and got rekt so hard even his Zan couldn't bring him back.

Yes, they were chosen for their contributions to Soul Society but at the end of the day, only the strongest Shingami are going to be in charge of protecting the Rei-ō - who's death can cause the end of the world. Plus, Kuruyashiki from the SAFWY Light Novel was called up to become a member of the Zero Squad, not because of a revolutionary invention but because of his strength. You're also completely ignoring the fact that back in the days, Menos were a threat that the entire Gotei couldn't handle, so they had to leave said Menos for the Zero Squad members to deal with. Finally, if Ichibe was that much stronger than the other Zero Squad members, then it would have been stated Ichibe's power surpassed the entire Gotei 13 but it wasn't portrayed that way.

Not gonna get into the Renji and Rukia thing since it's not necessary to prove my point.

Argue with the manga. Kirinji or Oetsu said they had all the information from both wars or something along those lines. And yes, botched, because the likelyhood is that's not even Oetsu's true Zanpakutō. That's a pitiful rebuttal. Firstly, the Bankai kills Yamamoto over time and Yhwach is much stronger than him so it wouldn't have the same affect. Secondly, it indeed takes a while because Yamamoto could have a whole fight and attempted to use it again, to fight Yhwach, so, time is not an issue. So, you'd be confident against 15,000,000 ┬░C reiatsu cloak, a blade with that same heat concentraed along the edge and the ability to summon the dead? Because that's what Oetsu knew he could be going up against and all he needed was a botched Zanpakutō to deal with it. From your refutes I can tell you can't even comprehend what I'm saying here. Oetsu knows Yhwach is strong enough to kill and literally annihilate Yamamoto and knows that he also has access to Yamamoto's Bankai. Despite this, Oetsu and the other Zero Squad members are fine with this 1v1 against Yhwach. That blatantly shows Oetsu is at least, far superior to Yamamoto and has enough reiatsu to fight Yhwach. Aka, Unohana doesn't stand a chance.

Damn, an exception to the rule. The Menos thing is completely irrelevant when the old Gotei is different from the current and it required the entire Zero squad ie Ichibe, to kill one. It proves nothing. The Zero squad bar Ichibe got shit on by the rezzed SS. Hell, they got shit on by Lille who Kyoraku (Retsu scales above him) pushed to transform multiple times, RG Renji demolished rezzed base Gerard, Byakiya, Toshiro and Kenny were fighting God size etc. Gotei definitely scale above the Zero squad bar Ichibe.

Why would they specifically mention Ichibe to be above the others when it was a bunch of hype statements for Zero as a whole so that they could job properly later. Nt nearly as impressive if its "one of Zero squad bully the rest of em and the Gotei at the same time .... the others are captain level". Literally only one of them (Ichibe) was a war power whereas the only reason Yama wasn't was because he wasn't as ruthless as before.

I am arguing with the manga. Base Yhwach would have shit on Oetsu no diff. Their "info" means nothing when they clearly aren't making use of it and can't make use of it. It doesn't matter if it is his actual Zanpakuto or not, poimt is that is the one he chose to take into battle so unless Oetsu is a raging, brain dead moron of a body guard, that is the best weapon he had available. It wasn't even a rebuttal, I was stating a fact.

Bankai's are a fixed amp and not a multiplier for the user? You should bring that to the multiplier CRT and get laughed off the site. Zanka is dangerous to the user, end of story unless you can show me where it harming the user (that it scales to) isn't a thing if Yhwach uses it.

A whole fight? You mean his few second stomp against Royd? He was going to use it again to finish Yhwach as soon as possible because that is the smart thing to do.

And Zero squad are raging morons by your logic so of course they would do something completely stupid like that. Hype doesn't matter for shit when feats put Unohana above Oetsu.
