Megami Tensei General Discussion Thread

In persona 4 there isnt really any downside gameplay wise of dating all of the girls. You can chose who you want to spend time with on each of the relevant events with no downside. The only real "downside" is on valentines day you have to watch them cry from out of sight as they are upset you are busy on valentines day. there is one social link that you will always get a scene for after all of that no matter what and doesnt really interact with any of the other romance events so might as well add that onto the harem. Persona 4 and persona 4 golden are pro harem! kinda. you also dont need maxed stats for basically any of the social links to start them at least
That is far from being pro harem and kicks you in the nuts for being a shitty person. But this stuff is weird, I don't want to look into this can any longer than I have to.

I love this so much, I'm enjoying it. It is my type of anime. The MC is pretty much the harem king and has the rizz to back it up. He is cool too.

I kind of loved Persona 4. The comedy was peak, my type of comedy. It even beat the comedy of the comedy-focused anime I just watched before Persona 4. My type of perverted, fun service , rizz comedy, etc. loved the characters, too. They were well-developed with nice stories and personalities, not NPCs. The emotional moments were well-made; you could feel how the characters felt, and they were also tied to the fights. The fights were nothing special; most of the time they were just there, made for the games, but not bad or boring or anything.

I love the MC. I love that they took the joke-type one from the game joins in , in beíng perverted to, even pretending to be a girl nothing is beyond him , and love how nothing phases him—almost like me.also a W chad, etc. The plot was good , they need to face their hidden, true selves and accept them was just W well-made, making the characters more lovable. I also don't mind how they used the power of friendship and bonds to win since it fit the plot.

Persona 4 The Golden Animation—I'm happy I didn't skip it. I thought it was going to show the same things as Persona 4 but with a new character, but it didn't. I enjoyed it as well and loved the new character ,too

Now let's go! All the girls were rizzed by the MC. He got three love confessions, but even those who didn't confess their love are prepared to date him. The love confessions were also well-made and emotional, just beautiful in both Persona 4s. W harem.

Lastly, I watched the dub of Persona 4, but the sub of Persona 4 Golden. The dub was just better. I rate both Persona 4s 8/10, possibly 9/10. I really enjoyed seeing the characters joke around and having fun more than the action. I loved all the songs and just found out this came from Persona 4. lol , love beats telling the truth to them .This will be missed. Now, on to the Persona 3 movies.

Nope, not yet, not until youve seen the final final episode for the original P4 anime. I mean, did you? Cause its separated from the actual show and you'd need to find it anyways.

I did. Its name is Persona 4 the Animation: No One is Alone. I pretty much watched everything related to Persona 4, so when I rated them, I included everything.

Persona 3 movies were just 7/10 and 8/10 at best, not higher. The art and colors were just beautiful, the action was good, and the emotional moments were not too bad. The plot was a nice change; in this case, it was about how to live life. The MC had character development, which was nice too. The bad stuff was so easy to tell: they skipped many things from the amount of days they skipped, but it's not that much of a problem since all movies are like that. However, it also felt rushed. That is it, now time for a Persona 5 rewatch.
Yeah, I like it the most when no girl is safe from being in the MC's harem. The Attendants are not safe either.
she speaks fax about a harem

Persona 5: I agree that the anime adaptation is bad and bland. At the start, I thought it was kind of interesting and good, but then it started to feel boring sometimes. I would rate it 7/10 at best due to the dub.

The OVA was better than everything present in the anime. I would rate it 8/10. I would have been happy to give it a 10, but it has no dub, and a girl in his harem is missing,if it was also a little better .

Look at the difference between the game and anime on the harem Valentine's Day scene.

It is obvious which one is better.
no way i made myself watch this , but it was better than the anime adaptation.

the story of this was about human desires , i wonder what persona 6 would be about .

Since they don't have a Profile on the site, I believe there is at least someone here who can answer my questions. Is Liberation dx2 canon for Smt,Persona? If it is canon, where is its temporal order as a story? Which Tier are characters like Hellbiker in? I would be glad if someone could answer

it's you

What's on your mind?

Also, while I'm posting here, what are everyones' top 5 demons?
& if you do say, say why!

I know I definitely like:
Alilat
It's a rock! A floating, glowing rock!
Narcissus:
An exemplar of self-identity positivity.
Yurlungur:
It's a snake, which, besides being timely, is rainbow-coloured.
Makara:
I like its design, even if it is inaccurate to its own lore.
Elohim:
Floating, glowing orb.

I've also gained a bit of appreciation for Decarabia's abilities recently. Kind of neat.
Es also has a sort of neat design.
I do feel ashamed some of my reasons are a bit superficial.

If I may ask, why?
Like, for each of them, what do you like about it?
I like Black Frost and Shiva
I'm also interested in knowing the same for you.

Not to say there's anything wrong with anyone's preferences.

I just like, for fun, knowing not only what people like, but also why they like it, or what they like about it.
It's fine if you don't or can't answer, in whole, or in part, for whatever reason.

on a surface level i just really love the designs, as someone who's an uber yugi oh fan, stuff like jack o lantern and jack frost just scratch that specific design itchI really like.

Principality reminds me a badass version of the forever knights from ben 10, and its equally fun to have satan as a pokemon. that being said a lot of these biases come from my own experience with the persona series versus SMT, as my experience with the latter is far more limited, with Nocturne ,SMT 2 and the first Devil summoner being the only non persona megaten games ive played.

so i might just find jack frost really enduring with his hee ho's

oh i almost forgot my goat

Ah yeah.
We have a YuGi-Oh! General Discussion Thread, too. Do/Did you know about it?

There's also an older one with less posts that hasn't been active since 2019, just in case that may have notable content. May be worth informing folks there, while I'm on the topic:

Anyway, I can think of at least a couple of other SMT "gremlins". Sounds like you find those entertaining, at least.
Principality reminds me a badass version of the forever knights from ben 10,
I'm guessing it's the SMTII version in your mind?
SMT_II_Principality.png

The version I know is the Devil Summoner version:
DS_Principality.png

....Which, to me, always made me think of the Statue of Liberty, of all things.

Of course, I only know of it because, since I lack modern consoles (I have like, a Wii & a PS2, & IDK if I have any SMT in my collection of local games store games from years ago, & my PC lacks the memory to run the PC version of Nocturne.), the only SMT game I've played is Dx2, a mobile game. (I have watched footage of Nocturne & SMTV, though, & some persona stuff. SMTV mostly because of interest in Demon Talk/negotiation dialogue.)

If you want video with its 3D Model (I'm too lazy to open Dx2 to screenshot another angle of it in the model view.) here's a video where it's a boss in Aura Gate 2:

....Of course, it gets beaten in barely over a minute, even despite going first. Tragic. (Not much other footage for it in that game.)

That makes sense, fair enough.

Say, wasn't SMT2 the one with all the American Horror Movie demons?
Like Christine/Chris the Car ( Christine (1983 film) ), Betelgeuse ( Beetlejuice ), & Audrey ( The Little Shop of Horrors ), among others?

....I wonder if Betelgeuse could get any good scaling since he/it is a boss that has an ally form.

Ah yeah.
We have a YuGi-Oh! General Discussion Thread, too. Do/Did you know about it?
I did not im actually super unaware of most of the wiki stuff here outside of a few .

Yup!

yeah its like a weird alt universe statue of liberty if it was made by the catholic church in the 11th century

you should try playing the older games through emulation, at least the GBA ones and so on, i dont think they should be hard to emulate even on limited hardware.

this kinda reminds me, given enough time are we likely to see more urban myths/legends from the internet age eventually manifest in megaten.

something like slenderman or akin to mothman from the 1960's

Eh, that is a... possibility, some would argue, yeah.

You may find this category interesting:

https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Category:American_Mythology_and_Popular_Culture

One internet-era myth, at least, AFAIK, is among there. But I also hate its design:

https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Chemtrail
Chemtrail_SMTIV.jpg

HOW DOES THAT APPEARANCE MAKE SENSE FOR WHAT IT IS?!
Oh & apparently it's stupidly rare:
Chemtrail can be found in Shinjuku West Entrance Park; he has a 1/256 chance of spawning on the uncommon enemy ambush spot near the fountain.
Fitting, really, lol.

& the worst part?! There's another one that looks just like it!

https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Plasma
Plasma.png

Then again, Plasma debuted in a game from 1997, Chemtrail was only in a game from 2016, so I guess Plasma's the original? But either way, what made them think that idea was good enough to use it twice?!

Demikids, of all things, tackles a similar topic:

"In cryptozoology and ufology, rods, also known as skyfish, air rods or solar entities, are visual artifacts in images and videos. They appear as the result of an optical illusion due to motion blur and are typically afterimage trails of flying insects. Some claim them to be extraterrestrial lifeforms, extradimensional creatures, or very small UFOs."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_(optical_phenomenon)

Why Skyfish hasn't been reused, IDK. I like it, even if it's an optical phenomenon called a fish that's classified as a bird.

Another demon I hate that relates to Pop Culture, & is sort of internet-related....

"Oliver, also known as Oliver-kun in Japan, is a demon in the series.

Oliver is based on the real life chimpanzee Oliver (c. 1957 - 2012). Oliver was thought to be a missing link or even a human-ape hybrid because of his human-like face and his tendency to walk upright. These theories had been debunked when several exams done to him confirmed that he was just a regular chimpanzee."

Oh, & while I was looking this up, I was reminded of another Devil Children-exclusive Demon that's also in the American Mythology/Popular Culture category. (Seriously, why must they group those together?!)

Lynx.jpg

It's cute, sure, but perhaps tellingly, the page lacks the Demonary entry.

(21 minutes in.)

"Mountain lion who has a strong a familial bond."
Maybe if it was in more than one game, they could explain like the Wiki does why it made it in:

"Lynx has a role in Greek, North American, and Norse mythology. To Native Americans, it was known as the "Keeper of Secrets." The Lynx is believed to have supernatural eyesight, and is able to see through objects. For this reason Lynx is often used as a symbol for revealing hidden truths and the psychic power of clairvoyance.

In Greek lore when King Lyncus attempts to kill Triptolemus because of his desire for Demeter, he is turned into a Lynx. Lynx is also the name of a constellation that was defined by Johannes Hevelius in 1687."

Without any of that info in canon, Lynx is probably just a regular cat except maybe with Demon Physiology. (Okay, it has in-game abilities, too. Profile when?)
something like slenderman or akin to mothman from the 1960's
Ah yeah, one more that comes to mind:

"The Aerophant is based on a fictional creature in the 1987 Spanish art book Fauna, featuring photographs of supposedly real, newly discovered creatures and written by fictional German Zoologist, Peter Ameisenhaufen."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Fontcuberta#Fauna_(1987)

Sorry if I'm rambling & going at too much length.

This list may or may not be influenced by the fact I usually do challenge plays lol
Oh, and in 3 I didn't play FES too

Those have been quite a while ago, I'm just not replaying rn cuz I lack time

okay tbf to anyone, a lot of these are heavily dependent on your load out and whatever party members you have, but at least for me, Joker is so far the hardest.
