Gaim's story is pretty well written, due to it have a veteran story writer Gen Urobuchi (AKA Urobutcher) as the main writer.
Urobutcher is also known for have created the infamous animes like Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero
But then again, there are people complaining it's being too protagonist-centric. I myself dont mind that really much
