Is there any context for these Thor scans?

I've seen these scans of Thor breaking Galactus' helmet and surviving Celestials' attacks. I know he generally operates in a level waaaaaay below these guys, so does anybody know the context for these? Was he amped or them weakened? Or it's just PIS?

The Galactus feat is Plot Induced Stupidity/near complete lack of interest in power-scaling for Marvel writers, and the Celestial feat is mostly due to that they were not nearly as powerful back in those days when first introduced.

Iirc, the Galactus one was when Galactus and Odin were trying to TP each other or something. Then Surfer was surprised when Thor ignored him and flew all the way to Galactus' head.

It should be noted that both Thor and Odin were unable to cause any lasting damage to Galactus in that story though.

The celestials were just as powerful back then as they are now, the combined might of the skyfathers of earth could not harm them, or even cause them to react.

Well, the Celestials were explicitly just displayed at planet level when first introduced. The skyfathers were also not shown as particularly powerful back in those days, as far as I am aware.

Well, he has shown to be both more or less powerful than those scans before so hard to say. I'd say the Galactus one is PIS. He can tank Celestials tho, he would not win the fight against one. But yeah, the scans of the Celestials are not counted as Non-Canon and there they were above Galactus Level so.

Galactus was generally not used at anywhere near his highest ratings though. Power-scaling generally does not work for Marvel comics.
