In need of some heavy hitting solid evidence as to why Saitama is not 'able to oneshot everything in fiction'.

Alright so for some context, my friend irl thinks that just because the series is called One Punch Man it means he can 1 shot anyone in all of fiction. I tried to get him to provide some evidence but he just spout the usual "lol character concept" stuff. Anyone got the goods to shut him down?

For that you'd need to introduce the concepts of "Occam's razor", "NLF" and "Burden of Proof" to your friend, I'm afraid.

I explained to him the concept of burden of proof, and the basic "The more you claim, the more evidence you need.". Though he kinda just brushed it off because in his own mind "lol character concept" is enough proof.

You need proof of the character concept being "can one-shot anything in any fiction" and not just "shonen hero who became way stronger than the rest of the verse and thus one-shots anything in it", the latter being the entire damn point of the series.

Also character concept being meaningless when introducing stuff that is most certainly way beyond any intent from the original series (other fictions).

Sadly i'm starting to think he is a lost cause when it comes to these debate type scenarios, but thanks for your useful input none the less.

I know that this technically counts as a necro, but...

This is the best proof you'll need, Saitama was apparently "clobbered" by an attack from... a multi-continent level character...

Saitama's role is to basically one-shot anything as a parody take on a superhero due to his plot armor (plot armor that I'm perfectly fine with due to the context of his character and universe he's in).

As much as we can try to wank on him with these Vs threads, in any given situation he's put in, he's going to win even against Universe busters and even Multiverse/Hyperverse fellows, let's face it....and that's cause of his aforementioned role. Besides, his matchups on this site are based off what was visually displayed in the anime or manga, and we don't even get close to knowing the true extent of limit of his strength....we probably never will, anyway. I'm not saying the Vs threads for him are useless...they're their own thing and in the end, they're just fantasy matches to debate over, frankly.

"Clobbered"

The quotations there don't actually help.

Iirc that was from Boros' perspective. Saitama was unharmed by reflecting CSRC and Boros/Garou in general.
