Currently the scaling for every single one of these 5-A characters is based entirely on Grey Hulk destroying an asteroid twice the size of the Earth, something that is commonly regarded as an outlier. The scaling is so interconnected that changing one character's rating would alter all the others.
Firstly, Grey Hulk is physically weaker than Green Hulk, but he's still got feats on par with the latter due to his ability to become stronger with rage. Also, in The Incredible Hulk (1968) #347-9, he was weakened due to a gamma bomb, his failing mental strength and constant sunlight, so getting outclassed by Spider-Man and the Absorbing Man doesn't scale to his normal level of strength.

- The Incredible Hulk (1968) Annual #15: Grey Hulk fights a Tyrannus-possessed Abomination. He's knocked out, but manages to trade blows briefly and even harm the former before he quickly regenerates.
- Later in this same issue, Grey Hulk fights on par with Abomination. After being amped by rage, he begins to overpower Abominatio and knocks him out.
- The Incredible Hulk (1968) #326-7: The original Grey Hulk trades blows with a gamma amped Rick Jones. This same Rick Jones could withstand blasts from an amped Zzzax, a consistent enemy of the Savage Hulk, though he is weaker than the former. Also, Grey Hulk wasn't one-shot by Zzzax, his Transformation was dispelled, and only the parts after this fight were fake.
- The Incredible Hulk (1968) #338: The Hulk takes absolutely no damage from Cyclops' optic blasts, powering through them with ease. Later, he grossly overpowers Doc Samson, who has a fraction of the Hulk's strength, and can only be defeated by Ice Man taking him off guard, Doc Samson's punch and Cyclops hitting him on the head.
- The Incredible Hulk (1968) #340: After being beaten easily cut by Wolverine, the Hulk's ski becomes more and more difficult to pierce.
- The Incredible Hulk (1968) #343: Grey Hulk is briefly stunned by blasts that Savage Hulk could walk through and is outright called weaker. Later, he shreds these robots like it's nothing.
- The Incredible Hulk (1968) #345: Hulk easily defeats the Redeemer's Hulkbuster Armour, which is more powerful than the afformentioned robots, being completely unharmed by his blasts.
- Fantastic Four (1961) #320: Though vastly inferior physically, Grey Hulk can harm an amped version of The Thing while weakened by sunlight, who calls him almost as strong as the regular Hulk. He also says The Thing couldn't have broken out of his hold before. Doctor Doom claims The Thing's strength was multiplied substantially.
- Avengers (1963) Annual #17: Grey Hulk and Hercules are portrayed as in the same ballpark of power. Also, he later swats the Beast, so he's not at all comparable to either.
- Later, the High Evolutionary BFRs Hulk rather than face him directly.
