Someone tried using another Death (European Folklore) to scale the new Death as if he has the feats.

That is right. Betrayal takes place between Ghost of Sparta and God of War II. The comics take place before even Ascension. The Greek one specifically. The Norse comics take place between GoW III and GoW 2018.

2010 Comics fit before Ascension (Rise of the Warrior takes place even before that), but the parts with the BoC take place after GoW1 just before Ghost of Sparta. Betrayal takes place after Ghost of Sparta just before GoW2. The Fallen God and 2018 comics all happen after GoW3 right before GoW2018. Lore and Legends takes place one year after GoW2018.

Ascension is before Kratos starts doing the bidding of the other gods, in Ascension he's trying to break free of his oath to Ares and once he is free he starts serving the other gods who hadn't horrifically screwed him over (yet) in the hopes they'd remove his nightmares.
