General DC Comics Discussion Thread

How are Deep Change and The Hands related?
Through the Source since it birthed everything. The Source natural energy is used to fashion Creations, so as we have it Deep Change = Speedforce, then the Hands uses the energy of the Source to make and nurture realities ie Multiverses. The structural foundation of Creation is either made from the seven harmonious energies or the opposite of that.

So, the Deep Change is this constant slumbering force that dreams of “Time” which is everything, and the Hands use it to create “everything.” Perpetua and the Hands storyline doesn't really make sense in the current landscape, but that's a good way of it.

Which one would it be your perfect justice League line up? I think mine would be this one.

That is a quite good lineup, but I would add Miss Martian and Mister Terrific. 🙏

Honestly, I kind of want them to do the Conner Kent/Cassandra Cain teamups and relationship again. There was something there in the Early 2000s and we know Cass at least never fully got over her crush on Conner, so it'd be neat seeing them team up and deal with adulting together while navigating their place as Legacies

Yes. That seems fine to me. 🙏

If it is official information, I suppose so, although going by my experiences, in real life it is essentially the reservoir for all collected repressed sum total human evil, so I strongly recommend any people able to to access it to try to mentally and spiritually avoid it like a plague. 🙏
Hey, speak for yourself. All of those repressed human emotions about wanting to murder your neighbor for looking at your wife wrong or repressed thoughts about wanting to murder your neighbors because they play music too loud aren't going to clear themselves or wanting to hit homeless people because they keep asking for money aren't going to clear themselves. I say that we should have a community event where we all face our shadows and all strongly imagine ourselves as our favorite characters from the wiki and face our repressed ideas, thoughts and emotions with love and acceptance instead of dumping them all on the formless reservoir that is the mental plane of thought worlds adjacent to our physical matter reality. /Half Joking

By the way what does everyone think of the Absolute Universe? I think Darkseid is cooking one of the best set of comic runs in history imo.

Does anyone know how dc heralds scale to 52 universes ? I've looked at some old threads but couldn't figure it out.

Endless, maybe. The Archangels, no. More so, she didn't create any of them. Her Multiverse didn't progress beyond anything before being remade. The scan literally says what happened during her arc and the “Big Bang” isn't accredited to her that was the momentum for the Creation after hers.
So are we going to finally just treat this all as one continuity or are we going to create another headcanon cosmology splitting to explain why we can’t actually explain anything?
I'm doing the deeds right now.

Why would the archangels be exempt?
We weren't told “when” they came in. The story suggests that Silver City(a part of Heaven), is the heart of Creation, which means it came at least around or slightly after Creation came. However, in all the Vertigo stories, the Angels existed before the Universe entirely especially the very first of them.

Ah, it’s almost like there’s a certain element of the cosmology which could explain all of this, that you’re not taking into account… I wonder what that mythical elemental is?

No, it’s all there in the CRT.
I wasn’t talking about a specific thread but yes your thread doesn’t take into account creation myth either. It also still invokes headcanon by acting like stories written by Dematteis are in their own self contained continuity with no connection to the larger cosmology, so you’re not even really solving anything.

DC cosmology unification 🙏

Here is a random post-crisis comic which discusses Neoplatonic emanationism for no apparent reason, which I found by accident.

Written by Englehart. Does it mean something? Probably not. Is it interesting? Definitely.

From Millennium #5 (1988):

NADIA: Logic demands sequence—and we seem to see reality as following a sequence—of time—of birth and growth and death—of cause and effect!

HERUPA: It may be that we are all hallucinating this logical universe, but in that case, everything about us is insubstantial—so we must make the one assumption that what we call reality is real! From that, it follows that reality is logical! Now, logically, every sequence must begin somewhere! What lies before the beginning, we cannot say—but one day, in one spot in the midst of nothingness—something begins! A birth of existence—the Big Bang—we may call it… One!

NADIA: Two—the concept of the other! One exists, and seems all-encompassing to itself—but the logical sequence of time soon shows that One actually exists within its surroundings! Before One burst forth, those surroundings were nothing—but after One, they are all that One is not—the second concept—Two!

HERUPA: Next comes the number Three! One becomes aware of Two because of the relationship between them! This relationship is shaped by both, and thus is different from each—and so a new concept comes from their sum! But, not being born directly from the primal nothingness—dependent upon higher forces for its very existence—Three is inherently limited!

NADIA: But just as Two is all that One is not, so is Four the reverse of Three! The nature of nature is sequence, and the limitations of Three cannot be the end! The very nature of nature itself demands another creation! The nature of life demands the number Four! And yet, all that exists in nature—all that exists in life’s logical sequence—must know birth and growth—and death! We are far from the purity of One now—and even One is a finite thing against the expanse of the Night! Five knows mortality!

HERUPA: The purity of One has unfolded instinctively thus far, but now that the process of life has discovered death, it knows that it can be cut-off—and so it must practice self-preservation! It must make its own, personal choices among the Five forces it understands, to deal with an unknown future! This is Six! And Six can be just another number—another finite number—or Six can be the beginning of the second half to the unfoldment—a conscious half to the unconscious half that created Six! Six is in the middle!

NADIA: The previous concept was choice—choice in how to best preserve life! The natural impulse is to harmonize with the larger life as much as possible—to trust that its ultimate purpose is beneficent—to expand to meet it, and work with it—and become one with it again! Seven lives in “the best of all possible worlds!”

HERUPA: The natural impulse is to harmonize with life—but each successful development is farther removed from the pure source! Life at this level is no longer inherently fair! Life cannot be completely harmonious! Too much striving for harmony can lead to weakness—and weakness cannot preserve life! The natural impulse must, then, be curbed by personal strength! Death and all that might lead the unwary to death must be kept at bay! The being must stand alone! Only alone can Eight make its choices clearly, and obliterate without compunction all that tries to tie its hands! Eight lives in the world “as it really is!”

NADIA: The learned decision is to take control of life—but each successful development is farther removed from the pure source! To obliterate that which is useless to you now is a poor strategy for the long run! To hold the world at bay is to become ignorant at its constant change! Too much striving for strength can lead to weakness—and weakness cannot preserve life! The being must learn that no one approach can solve every problem—that a constantly corrected repertoire of impulse and strength is the best approach available! Through experience, Nine finds equilibrium! Through time, Nine can perfect its personal approach to life—and be as good at living as it can possibly be!

HERUPA: And so, life reaches equilibrium… and yet there is always another step for it to take! Equilibrium is a living thing, not a dead thing—and Nadia Safir and I are proof that life may exist for a very long time—as long as equilibrium exists!

NADIA: So may you all!

HERUPA: Ten is life in the long run—and the symbol for Ten is the One of Something and the Zero of Nothing—equal and unified!

NADIA: Life can be one whole! And that is all there is to it…

I'll see to it. I've been finding interesting things myself as well.
For the record Herupa is a Guardian and Nadia is from their female counterparts, the Zamarons. It at the very least means the Guardians according to Englehart have a Neoplatonic ontology including everything unfolding from an infinite logical space/sequence (even mentioning the Seventh emanation living in the “best of all possible worlds”, and the number 7 in the Gematria means perfection obviously), with Ten total emanations from the Creator. Very Kabbalistic.

Granted they can't receive the most likely tier for it which is High 1-A+ since only one thing would scale from it. However, the scan is well put. It largely helps the current ongoing revision.

Yeah, they don’t scale to this at all, it’s just what they say the universe is at its core. It just means that Moore wasn’t the only one playing with these things at the time, and even back in early post-crisis the Creator had statements like these.

This discussion also takes place the entire issue hence why I just cited the comic and quoted the relevant parts. It’s verbatim though.
