It might not be that weird, actually. I looked a bit more into it, and the 1.58 dimensional thing refers to something called "Fractal Dimensions". Without going too deep into it, a fractal dimension is something that is not physical, but just a mathematical feature.

So it may not be that electrons are actually capable of existing in 1.58 dimensional space. It's more so a mathematical property.

But I'm not an expert. And reality is probably still weirder than fiction either way.
