Kidd's DF allows him to design and develop alot of different devices and gadgets with metal, including even a railgun, which would imply that Kidd has a high degree of scientific proficiency. In fact, Oda drew some of the characters when they were children, and Kidd's love for building and using metal has been there ever since he was a kid.

So, above average/gifted Intelligence or something like that for Kidd?
