Elden Ring General Discussion

"After the fiftieth death to the same boss, you just got to make peace with it" Me after losing to the tree sentinel for the bajillionth time.

"So if bring a friend to fight the boss, it should make it easier?"
"We both died"

No, lightning at its peak is building, when it travels from cloud to ground, its power gets lessened. Thats why normal humans don't get KO'd by it. Tanking lightning is probably superhuman though
Normal humans don't get killed by it because the energy tends to pass through the body and discharge into the ground or the area around you, thus you don't take the energy at all, it just passes through you. This can be mitigated though, if you're wet for example or if you get struck in mid air where there's nothing to discharge into, you tend to take the full brunt of it, which is also why those who get the death penalty by chair tend to get sponged up. Tarnished can take it mid air, I know because I already got the footage for it, ergo, he scales to the full yield.

Well if stars in an animation that are just the star shape we commonly see to represent stars and are super small can count as real stars in other verses there's no real reason to deny them here /s

Some interesting spells

Ya'll how did you beat the dragon that guarded the moonveil katana?
Is that Agheel if so I kinda just bopped him with Melee on foot if it's another dragon then it wasn't notable enough to remember

What level were you when you killed him?

I'm currently level 44. Haven't had much time to play recently

Oh you should definitely be able to do it, I killed him in like the 20s or 30s so I'd absolutely destroy him now seeing as im like level 71-75

L. I barely scratched him oof.

Honestly sucks I can't get Ranni to spawn and the only way to get to her is to go to her tower but there's this bitch ass boss I need to kill first smh

What are you playing on I could probably help you

Ah. I see. What's your build?

I'll just go through all my stats and currently equipped weaponry sooo stats first

Level: 72

Vigor: 32
Mind: 20
End: 20
Str: 18
Dex: 20
Int: 26
Faith: 6
Arcane: 9

And for weapons I'm using

Moonveil+5
Magic Lucerne+8(with Loretta's Slash)
Meteorite Staff
Pulley Crossbow+2

Honestly hoping there's a way to reset and reallocate stat point like in DS3 with Rosaria's covenant so I can put all my intelligence into faith

Currently tryna upgrade my health and strength.

I really wanna the moonveil katana for it's speed. Like the long sword is cool but it's slow.

That's literally why I switched from greatsword to the moonveil

So I just got a whole bunch of new Ash Summons including the Mad Pumpkin Head, Banished Knight Oleg, a Rotten Stray (a dog that does Scarlet Rot damage) and a Warhawk (the Stormhawk Variant that has the ability to breath fire).

Best advice I can give is just Jump + Heavy attack its face, or just heavy attack its face to eventually break its stance. If you saw him about to spit magma, it's either of two moves, he's either just gonna shoot long-ranged magma at you, or he's gonna waddle like a bitch towards you. Since you can't tell the difference between them, I just recommend that you R U N whenever you see that move.

He's a bitch, but you'll get the hang of him soon. Most of his attacks will be easy to dodge, except for the magma spitting shit.

You could also just use fast bleed weapons and cheese that ******.

So nobody is going to talk about the new haxxy stuff from Elden Ring? Because there's a lot to highlight.

I'm going to put all in spoiler so don't worry for that.

For example, before the game was released a twit from the oficial page stated that both sorcery and incantations are forces that shaped the world, which could be Conceptual Manipulation and some form of RW afaik. That also makes sense with the lore of the game, in which the stars has power over fate and all that stuff.

Speaking of concepts, the Elden Ring itself is a metaphysical abstraction of the Erdtree, and from what we see, it has power over reality and many of the concepts/laws that are within it (that being each Great Rune). That can also give to the Tarnished neat resistances, as they can use the Great Runes without being corrupted by that power (something that happened to basically all the Demigods).

The Golden Order is the logic of the world, controlling several laws of reality as stated in many incantations (like the law of regression and causality).

About that, incantations themselves can negate type 1, 5 and 7 Immortalities, as they impose the logic of death to those who live beyond that. This also working in skeletons and others undead, that have transcended death itself.

The Tarnished can potentially have type 5 Immortality (also 4 because his blessing from the Lost Grace), as they are said to be "ye dead who yet live."

Death itself seems to be an occult and abstract idea, being stated to be beyond the field of the Erdtree.

Many sorceries seems to be capable of warping space around, specially the Eternal Darkness (which is also stated to be a manifestation of the despair and inevitable fate of the Eternal City). We have also the gravitational magic creating portals.

And about gravity, this seems to be related with the void. For example Meteorite of Astel spell, which it's said to summon meteorites from the void itself.

A lot of spells and incantations uses the power of ideas like vengeance and stuff like that, so that's also interesting too.

Life also has some neat stuff too. It has a direct relationship with the Erdtree and the Elden Ring, and, for example, the Crucible Knights' armor holds the power primordial life.

And for now I think that's all, although there could be more other stuff here.

Also, Astel destroying a starry sky couldn't give him MFTL speed or something like that?

They can do it soaked, naked, and in mid-air, so they're basically injecting the whole-ass lightning bolt directly into their veins

Dunno about Type 5, but if it checks out then it means Tarnished can neg Type 5 even without holy magic/weaponry seeing as they just need to hit skeletons while they're reviving to put them down for good

Well I forgot that (and also, he can kill other Tarnisheds that should share the same nature as him/her)
Yeah perhaps. Could be applicable to all Tarnished since plenty can permakill each other it seems (such as Fia permakilling D). Also gives player Tarnished resistance to immortality negation. There's also some potent and haxxy status effects such as death and madness that Tarnished can resist

I beat the game yesterday and I noted some feats.
  • Elden Beast creates a literal universe to fight you. It also creates attacks that seems to be nebulae with exploding stars.
  • Tons and tons of spells that are said to be stars.
  • Radahn's feat is said by Sellia to be a "constellation". I don't think meteors fit that.
  • Rennala straight up creates a starry sky.
  • Ranni also creates a starry sky in her ending and also the moon.

creates a universe to use as an arena, you say? Inb4 Tier 3 Elden Ring, that then gets cucked to Tier 6, then Tier 7, back to Tier 3, then Tier 2
