Zero to do with this discussion
I mean i'm not going to debate you this is just a general discussion and even then it's not that deep
've told this already, it's a Doctor Strange movie without everything that makes it a Doctor Strange movie.
and u did indeed bring up plot so I think it does but yeah i'm done

  • Some of the biggest character reveals in the MCU
  • They just show up to be instantly brutalized by an existing character

You guys like this?
They aren't even 616. I'm just glad Marvel acknowledged them at all.

It's not that deep but you're making it look like it is lmao. Movie is basically what everyone posted here: Strange running from Wanda, deaths, gore and then Wanda suddendly acknowledge she is wrong and movie ends lmfao. How the **** someone doesn't get dissapointed over this shit.

Go read Doctor Strange comics then.

Crazy how the stinger at the end of Dr. Strange teases Mordru as the next villain but we only briefly see a Mordru Variant in this movie and he is basically irrelevant for the main plot.

To be fair does Sam Raimi or anyone else behind the movie care about Vs discussions?
I mean, does it matter? We do this stuff and if the movie doesn't have it, well, we ******.

I would love gathering footage and adding tons of new stuff for Strange, unfortunately I won't do it because there is almost nothing new to add. Though I think we can maaaybe add Possessing Defender Strange as a key or something, since this version uses Dark Magic and contended with Wanda.

I liked the movie because it was just a Sam Raimi film with a superhero coat on it. Like if you've ever watched Drag Me To Hell you know that this not even the full extent of how dumb he can take a concept.

If you watch it because it's an MCU film, maybe you will be disappointed.

But if you are a fan of cinema in general, this is a breath of fresh air. Not only has Sam not directed a superhero movie in a long time, he hasn't even directed a movie in a long time. The movie itself is almost devoid of jokes and you can see there was actual effort put into trying to give Steven an arc. While it's nowhere near as godlike as the original Spider-Man trilogy, it is still leagues better than Shang-Chi, Black Widow, etc.

Heck, this movie does horror and gore better than Let There Be Carnage and New Mutants, and still manages to maintain its PG13 rating. In fact the horror aspect might be the best part. Like watching this movie and keeping Spider-Man 2's surgery scene in mind, it's kinda amazing how much Sam was neutered when he made the latter.

Overall, I choose to see this movie as a testament to Sam's directorial skills rather than its storytelling or its overall part in the greater scheme of things. It's nice to just have character focused installments once in a while, not everything has to be a set up for something bigger. This is why I liked Iron Man 3.

Talking about VS stuff, gonna copy and paste some stuff from before

Wanda:

Astral Projection and Possession (Possessed a different version of herself from another universe to battle the Illuminati)

Strange:

Astral Projection and Possession (Possessed a different version of himself from another universe to battle Wanda) (he already has Astral Projection so anyway)

Summoning (Summoned mystics snakes to attack Wanda)

New justifications for his power absorption, capable of absorbing America Chavez ability to travel through universes, as seen by Defender Strange doing it.

Extrasensory Perception and Enhanced Senses (Performed a spell wich made Gargantos visible) or Invisibility Negation

Telekinesis

Range upgrade to Multiversal with possession

Some notable LS feats like the one I posted above from Wanda, 9-C to 9-B explosions. Wanda destroyed the Darkhold in all universes it seems, Strange has a similar feat like the one in IW where he used magic to disperse dust. Tbh only Chavez should get a profile. Others are fodder and they don't do much. Wanda does lots of stuff that I don't know what it is, she basically does everything she wants.

My thoughts about the movie:

Ok, so I'm gonna start with a short answer: Very good. Movie is very good. I thought it was a mess, but it isn't that messy, still feels like they rushed some stuff. Cameos are nice, just that. Nice to see Patrick back again as Professor X, he is cool asf (mf briefly hold Wanda back). Something I thought before watching the movie and only by the leaks: Strange is basically a device to make this movie work, he kinda is, but he has an arc. It's an arc of self-knowledge, Strange discovers that in all realities he is the biggest threat to the universe because of his arrogance, all Strange's are assholes, they put reality at risk because they wanted to solve things by themselves or they thought they knew everything. Defender Strange even tried to kill America to control her power better than her and not let it fall into Wanda's hands. So Strange's arc is to understand that he will never be with Christine in the end because of who he is, and this leads him to make the "right" choice at the end of the movie regardless of the greater good, which in this case would be to encourage America instead of trying to take her power while Wanda is in jail. It's Strange kind of learning to be more human, since he is a very arrogant character. He even kneels to Wong in the end, which is cute, because everybody kneels to the supreme sorcerer when they say hello, except Strange, because he is really proud arrogant.

Wanda's arc is.... eh, excellent during WandaVision and the first 2/3 of the movie but then in the end she was like "well my sons don't want me then I'm not crazy anymore", wich is clunky.

Fights are ok, though Strange used lots and lots of oranges constructs that they call magic (still not buying it) but he showcased some new spells wich is good. Wanda dominated him and he only got a chance by possessing Defender Strange's body and using the demons from the desecration of using a dead body to hold Wanda back for some time, cool asf.

I feel it didn't have to be a Doctor Strange movie. It isn't about him, it's about Wanda and the multiverse. They could've named it idk, Scarlet Witch, her "solo movie". It would work very well. Strange is there because he is the mage. More like "Well he works with magic and beings for other dimensions, he fits the hole"

For me, it's a disappoitment. There is stuff I really like in it and Raimi's style is really good but even outside of the cameos thing, I think it could have been much better and it fails to deliver the great movie and event it was supposed to be. Like Iron Man 3, I both like it and dislike it. And again, unlike NWH, the fan service was wasted (ironic considering this movie was the perfect opportunity for this kind of stuff).

Well at least unlike IM3, this movie would make peoples like it, even without the points that fans wanted like you said
Below NWH but it's still there

So in terms of abilities (not important if they already have these on their profile, I'm just making a list from the movie to be clear)

- Strange displays Telekinesis, Transmutation (he turns champaign into wine), Matter Manip (for the bus thing), stronger Weapon Creation, Summoning (he summons various monsters and parts of them several times in the movie), Fire Manipulation (Uses green fire against Gargantos), Astral Projection and Possession (the possessing variant spell he learns from the Darkhold), Soul Manipulation and Absorption while possessing Defender's corpse and using the souls of the damned, Necromancy for raising him, Power Absorption since he's repeatdly stated to be able to take America's power for himself and...Sound Manip and maybe Informations Manip for when he uses music notes from pages and instruments to turn them into projectiles and attack his Sinister variant I guess? Oh, he also holds his own pretty well against Mordo in close combat so Martial Arts

- Wanda : Pocket Reality Manipulation (for creating a second hex), Astral Projection and Possession, Biological Manip (Removes Black Bolt's mouth from his body and slices up Mister Fantastic), Deconstruction (she turns Strange's Sling Ring to dust), Summoning (for the monsters she summons and conjuring the Darkhold), Power Absorption, Technological Manipulation (Christine tries to open America's cell in the Illuminati center to allow her to escape but Wanda hacks the device to prevent it) and that's what I remember

Strange got 2 new abilities and some examples for his previous abilities and dudes are like "damn that's 🔥"

Like bro, in 2 hours and mf got literally basic shit he should've gotten way before this movie. It's a complete waste of screentime considering this VS discussion we do.
Tbh I'm more interested in the film itself given the director attached to it

I'm sure there'll still be some more direct AP stuff and new profiles to come of this, so that'll still be fun. It just won't be as high as a lot of people were expecting probably

Don't forget, now Dr. Strange unknown ranking will gone for good

It's due to the Mandarin being teased but put as a joke
I don't have a problem with the twist, it's that the "truth" after the twist was very underwhelming in my opinion.

I don't hate Iron Man 3 but I just don't vibe with Shane Black's storytelling as a whole imo even if I appreciate distinct styles in the MCU. Had a lot more fun with Iron Man 2 even though it's "objectively" bad.

Should have been higher honestly, that's one of the movi's flaws personnally, it should have been crazier and more spectacular in terms of feats and abilities

Darkhold should be a separate key since it not only requires an item, but he loses it in the end.

Reed claimed the Illuminati thinks Strange was the greatest threat to the multiverse, 2-A, definitely not a flawed upgrade
