Death Battle Season Ten Discussion Thread (1) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

For same series MUs, I was thinking that technically Red vs Ash might be decent? Tho greatly non-priority due to Ash vs Yugi.

Question/Discussion
Medic VS Richtofen (Team Fortress 2 VS Call of Duty: Zombies)- They don’t seem to know who Richtofen is. Chad questions if TF2 is still popular, to which Sam and Erin respond that it definitely is. Sam says “If we could have the non-Nazi doctor kill the Nazi doctor, I’d feel better about that”.

Happy Chaos VS Fu (Guilty Gear VS Dragon Ball Heroes)- Chad and Ben recall that Fu is one of the most powerful characters in DB Heroes. Sam notes how powerful high-tier Guilty Gear characters are, and says “I bet there’s something here”.

Billy Butcher VS Ihwa (The Boys VS Hero Killer)- They don’t know Hero Killer, but Sam and Chad are interested in it. Chad looks it up and sees that it’s a webtoon, and Sam notes that they get a lot of requests for webtoon matchups (“a lot of them are Homestuck”), and he is surprised at how popular they are. Chad recalls being involved in the adaptation of a webtoon called The Monster Under My Bed, and is interested in this MU because he would love to do more things along those lines.

Keeby VS Black Bomber (Kirby VS Bomberman)- Chad says they need to do another Kirby battle since there’s been a lot of Kirby MUs in the ballot. Erin Googles Keeby and sees that “he’s identical to Kirby in every way except color”, and Chad questions how Black Bomber would even stand a chance in that case. Sam agrees that Keeby stomps, but Ben mentions the black hole/universal feats from Bomberman and says the MU might be closer than it initially seems.

Lord Drakkon VS Ohma Zi-O (Power Rangers VS Kamen Rider)- Sam calls it “the ultimate Super Sentai lone wolf badass fight”. They all think it’s a pretty good MU.

Father VS Emperor Belos (Fullmetal Alchemist VS The Owl House)- Erin is a big fan of it, and Sam also says that it seems like a banger. Erin isn’t sure who wins, but is leaning towards Father. Ben asks if Belos is inspired by Father, and Erin responds that she’s not sure, but they’re based around similar concepts. Erin says it’d be fun because it would pit two very different magic systems against each other.

Noah & Mio VS Alphen & Shionne (Xenoblade Chronicles 3 VS Tales of Arise)- They aren’t familiar with the characters (Chad admits that, out of context, he wouldn’t know that they were even from different franchises). Ben says that he’s seen a lot of Xenoblade VS Tales MUs. Sam says it would appeal to JRPG fans, and Chad finds the tag team concept fun.

WordGirl VS Super Why- The post didn’t mention the character names, and none of them are familiar with the characters (outside of Chad vaguely remembering Super Why), so they don’t have any opinions on it.

Okuyasu VS Kuwabara (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure VS Yu Yu Hakusho)- Ben thinks Kuwabara would be fun to use, and Chad would like to do more YYH episodes.

King VS Tiger Mask (Tekken VS Tiger Mask)- Sam assumes one of the characters inspired the other. They aren’t familiar with Tiger Mask, but say that the obvious connections between them are enough to get them on board.

Chowder VS Flapjack- They don’t know the characters, but “there’s something there, I’m sure”.

Ash Williams VS Ruby Rose (Evil Dead VS RWBY)- They’re understandably confused by the premise. Sam questions how Ash doesn’t get stomped. Chad says Ash “can take some punishment” and probably has some insane stuff from the comics, but he still thinks Ruby wins from the mobility advantage alone. Sam says there are a surprising amount of connections, but they clearly aren’t into the MU.

Mii VS New Kid (Nintendo VS South Park)- Sam doesn’t know where they would even start with the research, but says it would probably be insane because the Miis likely scale to everybody in Smash Bros., and the New Kid battles Cthulhu in the South Park games.

Wes VS Yusei Fudo (Pokemon VS Yu-Gi-Oh)- They find the concept of monster trainers who also ride motorcycles to be really fun (though they’re surprised to learn Pokemon has a motorcycle-riding protagonist).

Dracula VS Davy Jones (Bram Stoker’s Dracula VS Pirates of the Caribbean)- Ben says it’s fun and he likes it, and Sam agrees that it’s a cool idea. The MU specifically used Francis Ford Coppola Dracula, which Ben and Chad note allows them to focus on a more classic Dracula without having to go into some of the more insane stuff other versions of the character have. Ben wants to “treat it like a mythological fight”, and thinks there’s a lot of potential that could be drawn from analyzing the characters on a deeper level.

Blue Beetle VS Generator Rex (DC VS Cartoon Network)- They’re not super familiar with Generator Rex. Chad mentions the insane feats Blue Beetle has that were brought by Liam on the Cast. Sam understands the basic connections and “bets it would be fun”.

Brock Samson VS Black Dynamite (The Venture Bros. VS Black Dynamite)- Sam and Chad both think it would be insanely fun, and Chad says there’s great dialogue potential, though Sam says the two characters would be friends.

Rayman VS Klonoa- Ben describes the two as “platformers that are just above being niche”. They do say it would be cool, though, and are surprised to find out Klonoa got a new game in 2022.

(They skip past Evolution Goku VS Live-Action Aang).

Kamen Rider Decade VS The Tenth Doctor (Kamen Rider VS Doctor Who)- Chad notes that they get a lot of Kamen Rider requests. Sam doesn’t know enough about Kamen Rider Decade to know if it’s a fair MU, given how OP the Doctor is.

Fawful VS Spamton G. Spamton (Mario & Luigi VS Deltarune)- Erin thinks it would have a banger track. She says it’s a MU that looks cute/funny on the surface, but would go in a darker direction, which she thinks is a fun theme. Sam calls Fawful “probably the deepest pull you could do for a Mario character”.

Rosalina VS Palutena (Super Mario VS Kid Icarus)- Sam says it makes a lot of sense, but he’s not sure if Palutena could do anything to Rosalina. Ben says a big part of the episode would be figuring out the upper limits of the characters’ power. Chad thinks it would be cool to bring in more Kid Icarus characters. Erin jokingly suggests just recording a Smash Bros. fight.

Beelzebub VS Zeref (Record of Ragnarok VS Fairy Tail)- They don’t know the characters super well, but understand the idea. Upon seeing from the connections that both are immortal, Ben sarcastically says “Oh, great. It’s potentially a Death Battle where neither character can die”.

Spencer VS Vergil (iCarly VS Devil May Cry)- Obviously, it's just a joke MU, so they gloss over it.

Eddie Riggs VS Chai (Brutal Legend VS Hi-Fi Rush)- Chad says Brutal Legend is a really fun game (Ben adds “until it isn’t”). Ben thinks it’s super fun and there’s a lot of potential. Sam and Ben joke that they will only do the MU if Jack Black agrees to do the track and voice Eddie.

Hades VS The Devil (Disney’s Hercules VS Cuphead)- They all like it and think it’s fun.

Homura Akemi VS I-No (Puella Magi Madoka Magica VS Guilty Gear)- Chad has seen I-No VS Haruko from FLCL before, but doesn’t know anything about Homura. Sam says that, since the two characters can time-hop, they probably are on “some level of extreme strength”. Ben doesn’t remember if Homura can control her time hops, and Erin says she thinks she can. Sam ultimately says it would be fun.

The Core VS Lucien Tavelle (Amphibia VS Critical Role)- Sam says they get a lot of requests for “the Critical Role character that dies and comes back” (presumably referring to Mollymauk). Sam asks if Lucien is in the Vox Machina animated series, and, after Erin answers no, expresses how it would be hard to do a Critical Role character because there is little actual footage to use, though he does say they could probably figure this out after some further discussion. Erin eventually says the MU's a fun concept.

Kisame Hoshigaki VS Jetstream Sam (Naruto VS Metal Gear)- Ben describes it as “shark ninja vs. cyborg ninja”, and the others say that this description is all they need to be sold on the MU.

Ronald McDonald VS The Burger King- Chad really wants to do it. He loves the Ronald McDonald VS Colonel Sanders DBX, and thinks it would be fun to actually analyze the mascots. Ben notes that there are McDonald’s movies, and Ronald probably has some insane stuff from them. Chad says his favorite episodes are ones featuring characters that have “no business being analyzed to fight”. Sam thinks Ronald should maybe stay in DBX, but the others disagree with this, and they ultimately say they should do it as a Cast debate.

Guyver VS Blue Beetle (Bio-Booster Armor Guyver VS DC)- Sam says they seem extremely similar, but none of them are similar with the Guyver. Chad Googles the Guyver, and says the MU seems pretty interesting.

And with that, they have finally finished the Staff Break Ballot, and are ready to move on to the Tournament of Champions Ballot.

....Medic was no doubt a Nazi. He's 50 in 1968 which means he was born in 1918. The dude is a scientist who is perfectly fine with conducting unethical experiments on his patients, bro got sent to hell upon dying.

It's confirmed he was never a nazi. Not only does one of the writers confirm this (saying it was too easy to use), and it's stated he came from a family of mad scientists
