Adam Jensen (Deus Ex) VS. Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell)

I personally like Gunvolt vs Saber as a matchup. Miriam is probably the most realistic and Cole has better connections, but the former is really obscure and the latter probably isn't going to get 2 Death Battles and having him fight anyone but Alex Mercer would be a crime at this point. Although honestly a Gunvolt fight probably isn't happening any time soon since Gunvolt 3's coming next yet.

  • Both wear blue and have yellow/blonde hair, obviously.
  • Both need to protect a much weaker person in their stories (With varying degrees of success)
  • Both use powerful swords with "Calibur" in the name (Excalibur for Saber and Luxcalibur for Gunvolt)
  • Well known as some of the strongest fighters in their respective verses (Saber is considered one of the strongest Servants, to the point where summoning her would practically guarantee a victory in the Holy Grail War; while Gunvolt is an SS Ranked Adept and is considered to have the single most powerful Septima in his verse)
  • Where Saber accepted her power willingly (Pulling the Sword from the Stone), Gunvolt's was forced upon him
  • Due to this power, both are considered chosen "Kings" (Obviously Arturia is the chosen King of Britan while Gunvolt was considered to be Asimov's necessary "King" of his new world)
    • Where Artoria accepted this position, Gunvolt completely refused it.
  • Both also had a "successor" of sorts. Artoria was cloned, the clone becoming known as Mourdred. After his death in the LAiX timeline, Gunvolt's Septima was implanted into a girl who would become known as Blade to fulfill the role Asimov had for Gunvolt.
    • Both also accomplished the exact opposite of what they were created to do. Mourdred created a rebellion that led to the fall of Britan and Artoria's death, while Blade helped iX save humanity from Demerzel.
  • Both have an ability that lets them effectively dodge anything (Avalon and Prevasion)
  • Both have died and come back to life on more than one occasion (Artoria died in Britan, then died in the 4th and 5th Holy Grail Wars while Gunvolt died at the ends of Gunvolt 1 and 2, though he didn't technically die at the end of Gunvolt 1, at least in the main timeline)
And no, Saber's Magic Resistance wouldn't cancel Gunvolt's Septima. While Magic Resistance can counteract Mystic Eyes (Which are considered Psychic, like Septima are), there's no evidence this works on other Psychic abilities.
