Can you calculate timeframe based on free fall speed?

If a character is falling from somewhere, neutral and normal conditions, can you calculate the timeframe for anything that happens simultaneously to that?

Example:

Character A just started falling, and he fell 4cm (assuming it's calculable), and at the same, Character B's energy attack crossed the horizon.

Time to Fall a Given Distance = sqrt(2d/G)

d = Total Fall Distance
G = 9.8 m/s^2

Timeframe: 0,09s

Horizon: 20000m

Speed: 222222m/s (MHS)

Would that work? And no, this is not based on an actual feat, it's actually just an example.

Assuming the visuals aren't borked by crazy angles, I think so.

As long as the visuals are fine, and either the object is massive enough or the distance is short enough that air resistance is negligible, this method is fine for finding timeframe.

Yeah, that should be fine as long as there's nothing wonky in the depiction (weird visuals, cinematic time, etc)
