Summary
There is a game called Rimworld. It is essentially a colony management game in which you control a group of recently stranded individuals on a Rim World (that is, the frontier of space) with practically no possessions. You are tasked to create a functioning colony and, theoretically, escape the dangers of this Rim World (invading pirates, cannibal tribals, crazed mechanoids, super bugs, etc) back to space. This however is lame because my colonies kick ass, and thus I choose to remain.

With all of that said, I have an idea that tickles my fancy. Allow me to explain.

Traditionally, you control 3-7 "pawns" (colonists) at the start of the game, with the opportunity to gain more from rescuing random newcomers, indoctrinating hostages, etc. The game is not balanced for play above a certain point- in fact it becomes very difficult early on as food is very hard to work with. Crops take a long time and there's only so many animals to hunt.

What You Can Do
So, my idea is this: in the posts below, describe three good traits and one negative trait (at least, feel free to describe as many as you like) about yourself from your perspective, be as goofy as you like. Furthermore, choose one child and one adult backstory here. Make your pawn as good or as terrible as you want. I will use every single one in a single save- I will start the game to the sounds of chaos as there is going to inevitably be a tremendous amount of anguish and drama. Many of you will die- in all likelihood many of you will in fact kill each other in fits of psychotic rage. That is a risk I'm willing to take.

I don't expect to get enough responses to actually send the game spiraling out of control, at most 20, but for the start of the game that's a lot of damn mouths to feed. Hope y'all don't mind being cannibal chow.

The Pawns So Far
  • Drite: Light passion for Intelligence, good people skills (passion for Social?), slow worker, and maybe a counter-intuitive social trait, Antisocial Child childhood and Civil Engineer adulthood
  • Fujiwara: Passion for cooking, passion for intelligence, durable, pretty, very poor social, ultraviolent trait (trigger happy?), Unwanted Survivor childhood and Drifter adulthood
  • Shmooply: Gourmand, Brawler, Tough, Teetotaler, Wreckage Explorer childhood and House Servant adult
  • Azontr: BIG melee, BIG social, pretty, lazy, jealous (for petty? maybe?), sensitivity, disease-prone, poor intelligence, Reclusive Child childhood and Arts Patron adulthood
  • Bambu: Socialish, smartish, quick walker, night owl, body purist, ugly, pessimistic, frail, Story Writer childhood and Lorekeeper adulthood
  • Crab: MELEE, durable, emotionally resilient, small art passion, angry, horribly unfunny (even though I know this to be false, I am honor-bound to write down everything as it is presented to me), a bit maniacal on finishing tasks in a certain order, Story Writer childhood and Veterinarian adulthood
  • Psycho: General skill monkey, durable, reasonably social, lazy, pessimistic, Delinquent childhood and Infantry Engineer adulthood
  • Setsuna: Some social (no passion), humble, lazy, pessimist, coward, Test Subject childhood and Deserter adulthood
  • Marshadow: Cook, high stamina, runner, problem solving (emotional resilience, mayhap?), cynical, unwilling to compromise, Test Subject childhood, Space Pirate adulthood
  • Dread: Technically-minded (passion for anything like this?), hard working, propensity to avoid conflict, resourceful, inconsiderate, neurotic, gallows humor, Bookworm childhood, Head Butler adulthood
  • Cheev: Workaholic, resilient immune and digestive system, good eyesight, clumsy, nervous, pessimistic, Tribal Child childhood and Healer adulthood
  • Phantom: Psychopath, Cannibal, Iron Will, massive melee
  • Comiphorous: *********, bloodlust, industrious, brawler, Abandoned Child childhood and Warmaster adulthood

I'd like to participate but I don't know many good traits about myself. Maybe honesty for admitting that I don't have good traits?

The bad traits can be egocentric or lunatic.

Good traits:
1. I feel like I am decently inteligent, as in, 1 IQ point above average '-'
2. I am a decent listener, if you need someone to just speak and rant I can fill that role I guess '-', don't expect any decent insight coming form me though
3. I don't like many things, but the things I do, I make sure to study and be as good as I can on it (Like D&D on the mechanics side)

Bad Traits:
1. I am lazy on when it comes to anything I don't like
2. I make way too many bad jokes, either people don't understand or I push it to the point it becomes unfunny
3. I like anime and manga

Child backstory: Antisocial Child

Adult Backstory: Civil engineer

First part is damn true for me too 😔

1. You are very funny
2. You are very benevolent and will allow peeps to use stuff you don't like in your games since you don't like banning things
3. You create very good stories with stakes that feel real and is emotionally fulfilling to complete them

I will furthermore extend the offer to tell you exactly how your pawn does (if you want). Maybe you won't die, maybe you will and I'll resurrect you, I dunno.

Good traits:
-Decent cook
-Fairly intelligent
-I keep surviving things that should absolutely kill me
-Hot

Bad traits:
-Short attention span
-Poor social skills
-A little too violent, maybe

Child backstory: Unwanted Survivor
Adult backstory: Drifter

Hope I get to kill someone before I die!

Shall see to it that your sacrifice will at least be a valiant one

although like cooking is unironically probably the best trait in the game early on since otherwise your dudes have food poisoning constantly

I probably would be the first to bite the dust I like to eat and my "inteligence" is not very useful '-'
Intelligence is better the earlier on you are, as research to become stable is necessary. Eventually it becomes essentially valueless, or something that can happen in the background at the very least.

TOTAL. PIRATE. VAPORIZATION.

By traits, do you mean you want people to list IRL traits they have, or assign themselves traits from Rimworld that resonates with them? If it's the latter, I'd go with:
  • Gourmand
  • Brawler
  • Tough

For a negative trait, I guess something like Abrasive or Teetotaler.

As for backstory:
  • Wreckage Explorer Child
  • House Servant Adult

I was going for IRL traits that I'd translate into passions/traits in-game, but this is also very acceptable.

Good Traits:

  • Born with freakish idiot strength
  • Good Listener (im here for u)
  • I'm funny
  • Attractive

Bad Traits(Several):

  • Petty
  • Attention Seeker
  • Lazy
  • Overly emotional (cry alot)
  • Shitty immune system (diseased)
  • Idiot (comes with idiot strength)
Child Backstory: Reclusive Child

Adult Backstory: Arts Patron

Hope this is good.

poor emotional resilience is a death sentence in Rimworld

It's perfect, thank ye kindly. You'll be the meat shield (comes with the territory of strength).

Gonna add myself, since I make the rules and I can.

Positives:
  • I'm a funny ************, ************
  • Reasonably intelligent, but then everyone thinks that, aye?
  • Depressed person speed

Negatives:
  • I'm an ugly ************, ************
  • Pessimistic for sure
  • Relatively fragile
  • In terms of traits, if they can be considered negatives, I'm probably teetotaler and body purist (no drugs/no body mods)
  • Again, unsure if it can be considered a negative because it has a positive side: night owl, definitely
  • I have negative skill with my hands (crafting?)

I dunno if y'all want to really delve into the nitty gritty but these are the traits and these are the skills. Skills are mostly of note for "passions" since that will determine how fast you learn them, and you'll get a mood boost from doing them (handling mood is a major concern).

Story Writer fits for childhood (D&D shit), Lorekeeper probably works for adult (I still do D&D shit)

Google stole my motherf*ck*r word 😔

Positive traits (attempted to not be written as a dick with an overinflated ego but your mileage may vary):
-Generally a good listener
-Physically probably the strongest person in this website (up there with Arc, at least)
-Generally good endurance as well
-I can keep my cool decently in heated/emergency situations
-Creative I guess

Negative traits:
-Prone to fits of RAEG (mostly over petty shit though)
-Stubborn, at least in the moment
-Bit of a loner
-Unfunny
-Very unfunny
-Capable of obsessively hyperfixating on stuff, sometimes to the detriment of other, more important tasks

Small idiot child backstory: Story Writer
Large idiot man backstory: Veterinarian

Melee and Medical guy, it is decided

Good traits: Tough, jack of all trades (Fairly knowledgable on alot of subjects), somewhat funny

Bad traits: Lazy and Pessimistic

Child Backstory: Delinquent
(Delinquent)

Adult Backstory: Infantry Engineer

Tbh you should just keep Psycho as the colony's pet frog. It'd be funny I swear.
I could definitely set that up, since I've learned frogs are in the game, however the goal of this thread was to start with a Silly Number of Pawns. Right now it's just high (I had been hoping for like twenty or so).

Failing all else I could give Psycho's pawn a pet frog that may eventually be turned into food

Good traits: Good at listening i guess, Humble
Bad Traits: Lazy, Cynical , Anti-Social, Coward

Child Backstory: Test Subject
Adult Backstory: Deserter

you only gave me two good traits and many bad, you will be difficult

I'll find a place for you in the colony, unsure what role ye shall fulfill

our asses are going to have like all lazy ******* pawns, this is a real trait in the game and it SUCKS. You WILL work 20% slower.

Bruh

The colony has fallen, billions must slowly harvest organs.
something something Joever

Well you did ask a bunch of Powerscaling Nerds, you should have expected this
every single one of you people say things like "I'm a reasonably funny and thoughtful individual and also the least charismatic person on the planet, I will make it impossible to be the Social face of the colony", it is about expected

Good Traits-
Cook
Decent problem solver
good endurance
Runner

Bad Traits-
Hardheaded on things im passionate about
Cynical
scales nasuverse

Child Backstory: Test Subject
Adult Backstory: Space Pirate

Space Pirate gives shooting so we have our first ranged person, this is good.
