What's the policy on joining late?

My brother keeps telling me about the new DLC and it's pissing me off because I can't afford it this month.
Perfectly allowed, describe a character or do the form.

@Shadowslash125, almost immediately after the last update, did two things. The first was constantly enter and exit range to give @DMUA access to his firing frenzy aura he had activated during the fight. This aura gave Hampter 🤏just barely enough consciousness buff to make him able to walk. So Shadow would get closer to Hampter, Hampter would stand up and begin tending to his needs (removing ****** up clothing, getting new unfucked up clothing, eating, recreation, etc), and then Shadow would dip out of range, causing Hampter to fall to the ground again. It seemed cruel.
One would call this... Edging.

The second thing was he abandoned the colony. He tried to leave the Mob. Nobody leaves the Mob. @Crabwhale arrested him on the spot. He's recruited again but I was outraged. He did it because he was hungry. Do you know what he was doing when he decided to give up? He was eating. Daft fool.
AYO WTF
Legitimate Sin Of Gluttony right here. Surely he's back and ok now, right?

Yeah we arrested and recruited you back. Still. Dude tried to skip out on us.

Btw TIL you can permanently pacify entities by torturing them with porcupines. The escape interval would become never.

Fur Point.

Appearance/xenotype, your best approximation of a 25 year old furry femboy on crack.

Psychopath, Jealous, Bloodlust, but also Fragile, Wimp, and Volatile.

He starts addicted to yayo, with 10 and a burning passion in both combat skills but nothing in anything else.

I thank the gods that there's not a furry or femboy trait in Rimworld, modded or otherwise 🙏

best I can do is make you a twig (that is to say, skinny).

this is definitely the worst pawn so far. but furry femboy shit aside, it might be among the more fitting for the mob. morally black combat nut addicted to drugs. we'll have to teach you some skills outside of combat but we'll get there.

Yer in there. Wimp and Fragile are the same thing (Fragile a xenogene that automatically gives you Wimp, the trait), you can't be addicted specifically to Yayo since the addiction applies to all Psychite (so, Flake, Psychite Tea, etc would also sate it, although Yayo is the strongest and I believe you'll probably still target our supply of that, you bastard).

Your skills are functionally all 0 but your backstories give you a pittance of skill in a few departments. "Animal caretaker" and the "Animal lover" trait are built for the Furryism whereas "Addicted Gamer" is built for the femboyism, which makes you 100% incapable of research and social tasks. I don't have a bed for you so we'll need to make one but otherwise, you're set up. Your pawn is called Point because I refuse to refer to him as Fur.

I cannot wait for him to be used as the door guard

Also, im liking Golachab's fit

You can make them a furry via xenotypes.
If you don't want to make a custom one, Yttakin works.

Either way I don't actually care that much, I just thought it'd be funny.
The "craves violence despite being weak" was the more important idea.

Love the fedora.

Oh you meant as a species lmao. In that case I'm going with the Animusen as it is probably the most degenerate of the lot. Fox person.

Fedora isn't even an insult in this context, we're just the mafia.

Perfect, and it's still fitting.

  • @FinePoint joined the colony and immediately entered a food binge due to jealousy over @Lawiegg's room. Shady is an android and shouldn't even have a room, so while he was pummeling through our food, I gave Point Shady's room.
  • @Phoenks has researched the cure to dementia, we can now cure Macro's definitely-PTSD. Curiously, the cure was derived by one with this mind altering condition, so one wonders how much we can actually trust it. Still! No more mental illness, turns out we can just cut that out.
  • @Crabwhale ****** up our ENTIRE orange harvest. I don't even know how that works in-universe. She destroyed like 800 oranges of the 900 total we should have gotten. Like. Yeah we grow drugs but also we still need to EAT.
  • @Armorchompy and @Lawiegg are in pretty bad trouble. Their reactors are petering out, soon they'll be out of power, which will render both androids inert until we can replace it. We lack the technology to just build one and traders have been remarkably miserly with their spare android parts. The reactor isn't even particularly expensive (it's about 550 silver each), they just aren't showing up. If the situation worsens we will need to go to a friendly settlement and pick one up ourselves (if they have one). Normally we'd just bee line it to the research but, random research options. We've only just now seen our first spacer technology option (we didn't take it, took basic vehicles instead).
  • @Topaz404 is Don Concretemaker: this is a dual announcement, the first part of which is that I've finally decided on a Don out of three of you (@Shadowslash125, @Topaz404, and Eldritch, an off-wiki person); you three have made characters that would fit the archetype I'm looking for but Shadow is already Capo and Eldritch is an off-wiki person and thus is lower priority. Don Golachab of the Argenti family is Topaz, or at least this group of the family. I wrote a very small excerpt on that. below; the other part is I've never seen someone so happy to be making concrete for 12 hours a day.
(...get it? new dawn? new don?)

The comms station buzzed to life. It was sometime after noon, Hampter was certain, as the shadows lengthened and his eyes desperately adjusted to the mid-day haze. He was alone in the commons room of the Family's bunker, dining on
insect jam and beef brisket. The sound of the machine was almost startling as it rose above the passive humming of the building- ancient machinery carrying out its long-abandoned functions, Hampter had no doubt. The comm station rarely,
if ever, activated, and these days it was almost exclusively by night.

Over a year ago, the Family had been fractured and forced to flee from the Imperium's law enforcement corps. Their members had been driven across the planet by the hundred, entire compounds emptied of life by hunter-killer drones and
other ruthlessly efficient no-mercy contingencies prepared by the Man. Hampter's group had been fortunate enough to have been abroad when the purging began, and had a head start on their escape. Communication with what remained of the
family was limited.

Hampter put down his food with the care of a surgeon and approached the console. It was higher tech than he was used to but he could navigate through its basic functions. He scrolled through a menu and opened the messages- there was no
live feed attached, just a simple texted message.

"DON AZ IS DEAD. AERODRONE STRIKE. PROCEDURE CONTINUES AS PLANNED. LONG LIVE THE NEW DON."

Hampter's group was largely greens- new blood, relatively fresh recruits to the Family. But Hampter had been here for a few years. He knew what it meant.

The throne of the Don was paid for in blood. There was to be a war. The War of the Don.

-------------------------------------------

The group had gathered to discuss what the next step was. They would presumably offer one of their own as a contender for the seat of the Don. But it held its risks.

Indeed, it meant combatting everyone else who wanted to seek the power left in the wake of Don Az.

There was no honor amongst thieves.

After two hours of discussion, a conclusion was reached with a level of diplomacy and amicability that Hampter had not seen since being forced into the life of a criminal. Among their numbers, most reckoned that Golachab held the
greatest knowledge and ability for the role- he had served with the Family for years, and came from an established vassal that had been serving since the creation of the Family decades past. He was neither the best shot or the best
negotiator, but more than any other he knew what to do.

It was, all things considered, an uneventful meeting to kick off a surely eventful future. Their enemies had grown greatly in number, and now with a potential ruler for the Family in their ranks, those enemies would be coming.

That night, Hampter trained until his knuckles bled. He'd be ready.

  • A wire exploded on @Arceus0x in the kitchen; perhaps he spilled something on a socket, who knows. he took it like a champ, though. The only reason I mention it at all is because it made me physically jump, it was so calm before that.
  • moron it is RAINING and whatever you make is INSTANTLY WIPED AWAY
  • There's a little smiley face cloud setup on the one loading screen
  • I'm not sure what exactly prompts a pawn to switch out of one set of gear to another, I have the clothing settings set so they won't wear heavily damaged gear but otherwise haven't changed anything. Nevertheless, @Phoenks seems to be wearing almost entirely all of @Topaz404's hand-me-downs. The only thing he's missing is Golachab's hat, which was taken by @DMUA after he abandoned his sunglasses.
  • @Lawiegg needed to clear memory cache (which in androids causes them to get stunned every down and then, it's their equivalent to sleep), but he did it in the doorway of our freezer, causing it to no longer be a freezer until he was done. ******.
  • @Armorchompy keeps trolling @Arceus0x by dumping animal bodies in zones I swear weren't meant to store animal bodies. Dude just wants to butcher our boomalopes but they keep dumping them on the other side of the colony in the pouring rain.
  • @Epiccheev is next up on the 20 skill list, having recently gotten 20 skill in animals. I'm not sure how he did this as we only have one animal, a thunderbeast that one of our outposts captured for us.
  • @Epiccheev miraculously avoided wounds after @Armorchompy enraged a boomalope herd while hunting them, he must have been perfect distance in between two separate explosions. He did have to scrape @Arceus0x up off the ground, as he did explode (it wasn't bad). Reckon Gray does a lot of scraping people up.

Ayyyeeee, im the big man leading the charge. The Family will live on.

Assuming, reading the rest of it, everyone else gets their shit together

By achieving 20 skill in animals i have become one with the animal kingdom, the boomalopes were me as i was them.

I'd stop crashing out if everyone else wasn't clearly given preferential treatment.
Some additional rations are a small price to pay for equality.

You're definitely going to be more upset when we give Topaz a royal-style bedroom on the basis that he's the leader. Anyone who is jealous will live in constant misery.

I do like this take on Vlad, I will say. It's not quite in line with what the typical Vlad is (Understandable since you have minimal context and I don't want to stifle your creativity by trying to "fix" that) given he's a lot more subdued and rational, but it also makes sense that his usual attitude would have had to been buried a long time ago to actually survive. In particular the part where he even puts his food down with surgical care makes it feel like this too is something he trained for, beyond the physical stuff he keeps up at the end showing that he's still the same ol' Hampter

If Golachab dies, then i would like to have Vlad here to take his place. Honestly though? A good leader needs a good right hand. I trust Bambu's judgement, but i think Vlad might be a good fit. Thats all i gotta say till the next update

Can I join this late?
You can, either describe your fellow or do the form in the OP. Though, you might need to share a bed with someone. Cuddle for warmth until I have another bed prepared (I'm working on it).

@Phoenks has researched the cure to dementia, we can now cure Macro's definitely-PTSD. Curiously, the cure was derived by one with this mind altering condition, so one wonders how much we can actually trust it. Still! No more mental illness, turns out we can just cut that out.
I can't believe I cured dementia while having dementia. 💀

Well if I had a room of my own I could've clear cashe there

  • @Epiccheev is now our Butterfly Slayer (perhaps the brother to Dragonfly Slayer?) after killing a group of Drainers near our batteries. For the unenlightened, Drainers are bigass butterflies (like, almost human sized) that suck up power. We've been having power issues lately and judging by their logs' length, I'm guessing these guys are to blame. Situation dealt with, although he did get a bite on his toe.
  • We took a mission to fight some ferals for the colonization forces of this world. As part of that, we took in two high-ranking members of their society, as well as a squad of five of their soldiers, two of which were androids. One of them, Pyotr (an android) spent the entire time he was at our colony attempting to sway you guys from our ideologion. Now, most of you were fairly resolute, only losing a couple percentages of certainty (basically your beliefs were questioned but not greatly shaken); HOWEVER. One amongst you is unshakeable. Concrete. Adamantine in HER beliefs. @Crabwhale was hit up multiple times by Pyotr and each time it read "100% -> 100%". No certainty loss at all. Aetta-28 is the Iron Maiden of the Grand Cartel.
  • In a situation of humorous timing, @Arceus0x and @Armorchompy were playing poker together. I suppose Armor must have lost because he immediately entered a mental state and started punching Povar in the head. @FinePoint was present in the rec room but didn't do shit but run because I forgot to set him off of fleeing in the face of combat. Povar won the fight, I reckon, but both came out bruised. Sore loser, Armor.
  • @Phoenks had Inspired Creativity, perhaps my favorite of the good mood effects, which would cause the next thing he crafted to be substantially better than usual. With his 20 skill, I expected Macro to create a legendary weapon. I had @Topaz404 do much of the work with Macro stepping in at the end... only to find that the weapon I had been crafting, an elephant rifle, apparently has no quality modifier. We got scammed. We're low on steel so I instead had Macro build a ******* harp. It was legendary though!
  • I am spawning in @Rakih_Elyan; he has given me Paradoxes and Conundrums. His character had two childhood backstories (I chose Story Writer over Reincarnated Soul, as the latter cannot commit violence, and my god do we like violence around here...) as well as being good at Social, with the Fringe Shitposter adulthood story, which cannot do any social-related work. He is a martial artist who is dogshit at violence (he can do it, as a Story Writer, but Fringe Shitposter makes him really bad at it); he is vengeful, so because we have ugly pawns, he will consider them rivals and will want them dead (and until they die, he will have a PERMANENT -20 mood debuff); in short, you have surpassed @FinePoint in making a pawn that in any other context I would use as surgery practice. Welcome to the family.
  • Upon spawning in, @Rakih_Elyan flirted with a robot (not one of ours). I just think this is funny for the first thing he does.
  • @PsychoWarper briefly lost his mind and began savaging @Shadowslash125 as the latter slept peacefully. Xol felt much better afterwards.
  • @Lawiegg lives in more or less permanent anguish that @DMUA is still alive. He is constantly at Major or Extreme Break Risk. We frequently have to beat him up. His depression is costing us precious Neutroamine. It's a little interesting that his mental breaks are also reset when his RAM clears cache, giving him the huge mood buff from the catharsis of having had the mental break without him actually going through it. Particularly useful when he was trying to kill (as in, literally murder) @Epiccheev, but I just had Gray run around awhile until his RAM filled and then he forgot all about it.
  • An FC/OC user requested to join but does not seem to have an account here. Azure404 joins as Lazulus, a Keshig ex-royal and swordsman. We now have a quartet of beast-people between him, @FinePoint, @Arceus0x and @Epiccheev. Diversity win or whatever. Upon spawning in he immediately removed his pants in favor of another pair we had stored, felt it was time for a break, and played pool with @Shadowslash125.
  • High Concrete Packer @Topaz404 has a resoundingly, offensively annoying habit of depositing 74 units of concrete into the workplace to be packed and grabbing the rest afterwards. The rest being, one unit. It takes 75 units to pack concrete. Can't push himself to grab that one last thing, I guess. This basically doubles how long it takes him to do his work.
  • Humorously, @FinePoint gets upset because he uses a hard drug due to being a drug addict. Our Cartel is ideologically opposed to "sampling the goods". It's for our customers. So he has a huge mood malus for being on the drugs we produce.
  • @DMUA slowly chips away at our steel shortage. Say thank you to DMUA. I built so much out of steel, I hardly noticed it was all but gone.
  • @DMUA was given something called a "Zodiac Volcano Katana". it isn't like... insanely good, our titanium swords beat it, but I think it's a really funny name. I can't tell if it is satire or not.
Not played much recently, hence the delay. I've been wanting to write but christ knows I can't. The Great Work of the Cartel continues.
