5th strongest 7-A Bracket Round 7 (Vandalieu vs Caster (Merlin))

Either a 7-A character from Instant Death (Verse) or Mukuro Rokudo could work imo.

Also @Ricsi "(as an avatar to stay in a singular universe, it needs to limit it's power, least it destroys the universe)"

Isn't that like, way above 7-A? If it's only 7-A via weakening itself because it doesn't want to destroy the universe (Which is CIS which likely wouldn't apply to a vs battle )

CIS does apply to vsbattles, and IIRC using more of his powers would still damage the world. (Like, using quantum powers causes every single timeline to slowely collapse into a single reality, cue his 4th key).

CIS only applies to vs battles where it makes sense.

Kaguya not killing Naruto and Sasuke at first because 1) she saw them as her children, and 2) She wanted their chakra which she believed they stole from her in the first place.

We wouldn't say in a VS battle that Kaguya would behave like this against anyone else though.

I suppose this would apply for The QM if his powers collapse every timeline, and that's not something that he wishes to do out of the kindness of his heart. But, if there's a more specific reason or situation, we wouldn't apply that to a vs battle.

That would be only valid if the charcter is willing to die at hands of someone stronger than his restricted state, or if its a restricted form (like previous form of Frieza or similar).

The alternative is all of reality collapsing into a singular dimension, losing his sentience and becoming one, big black hole.

But I guess I can see why a character being 7-A through self-restriction wouldn't be allowed. Again, someone else named can take his place.

After Quantum Man the first nomination I heard is Mukuro Rokudo. Everyone fine with him?

Let's do a bracket to see who gets the last open spot

Vandalieu, I'm pretty sure it isn't wise for you--someone who has an explicit weakness to Divine Artifacts--to take on a Grand Caster who almost exclusively uses Divine Constructs for weapons. That's a cross between Caliburn and Excalibur you're dealing with here. And he was the one who taught Artoria all she knew, including how to handle a sword..

And his staff is also a Divine Construct. A very high-level one at that.

Well, since we brought up the Chaos Tide, I'll mention this. It isn't sleeping gas pumped at 1000 people. It's sleeping gas pumped at people who are 1000 times stronger than normal. And they all fell asleep. Merlin not only resisted it, he helped others resist it when they normally couldn't.

And Merlin would only find Vandalieu's mind a fascinating specimen, perfect for a different perspective of how nuanced minds work.

And Merlin, assuming he lacks any entertainment outside of this fight, could win like this.

See, the nature of his avatars are that he wants to make one at a certain point in time at a certain place. The avatar will manifest, complete with staff, sword and the body that wields them. His Clairvoyance then allows him to keep track of them, and the avatar can use it too.

---

If Vandalieu does anything undesirable, Merlin can simply shoo that avatar out of existence and spawn a new one (or more) immediately. He then keeps going after Vandalieu, bothering him relentlessly (we agree the avatar is capable of that, right?), making witty comments about his past (yeah, he can and WILL do so), and just being plain annoying...

Until the day Vandalieu screams 'FINE! YOU WIN! NOW GO AWAY!' in absolute frustration when Merlin crashes his casino fun time--AGAIN--and turns his pile of fake gold into a pile of cute plushies.

Or turns the corpse he was hiding in into a giant flower. Or gives Vandalieu's centipede friend a really nice toy to play with.

---

If the scenario is possible, we also need to question how much patience Vandalieu has, and his mental fortitude.

To keep things moving I put up the next round.

@Zenjutsu: The weakness isn't that great and Vandalieu can grant objects life and have them fight for him, so Merlins weapons can be dealt with.

Stats of the people doesn't mean they are harder to hax... that's literally why it's hax. So servants beings stronger than humans doesn't mean it needs stronger mindhax to affect them.

Vandalieu's mind is stranger than you give it credit for.

Your argument also takes care of neither of my two win cons for Vandalieu, which amongst other explain exactly why Merlin can not bother him relentlessly.

Running out of patience is also no wincon, as the characters are forced to fight. Not that Merlin wants to play that game against the paranoid psychopath that will go to any length to protect his companions or take revenge for them and even after being tortured for literally his entire prior life still had it in him to kill his torturers before his death.

I thought you would understand the second one is half a joke, but apparently you think I'm Jon Snow.

1) We're going by a mixture of Fate and Death Mage rules here.

--In Fate, a concept of failure might as well mean you're doomed. A Servant (NOT Heroic Spirit) who died because he was shot in life, for example, will be extremely vulnerable to guns. Queen Medb was famous for dying from getting hit by a lump of cheese in the head; thus, as a Servant, you only need to hit her in the head with a lump of cheese to kill her.

What this Means: Vandalieu is NOT getting around that weakness, especially if he's 'granting life' to whatever to fight for him. His weakness to Divine Artifacts will be carried over and amplified on those things because they would be considered inherently weaker versions of him.

2) Well, I daresay Merlin's mind is weaker than YOU give it credit for. Even if he can't mindhax Vandalieu like he does other people, he can at least stand his own ground.

3) Servants naturally resist the Chaos Tide. However, without assistance, they become haxed eventually.

4) Merlin's Disarming Presence, if you read the text, is a type of conceptual Stagnation. People's behavior is where it's most obvious, but those pathogens will be affected too. And Merlin has legends of him never having to worry about mortal things like disease and old age. That's what gives him the resistance (if not immunity) that isn't listed, becuase nobody wants to sort through the Arthurian legends to list them all out.

5) If Vandalieu's pathogens and mindhax are part of his magic, then Magic Resistance will work perfectly fine on them. In fact, Merlin might take the chance to learn him some new tricks.

Mental encroachment is not magic

It looks as though this still needs discussion and Merlin is winning.

Then why does the table list Vandalieu as the winner?
