I'm not quite sure I understood the comment left. It's not the only FTL speed feat they have. They can dodge lasers and very large ones at that. I have two videos montaging this. And the EMP's are instantaneous. With the exception of the cutscene, all EMP blasts are instant AOE. You can see this in the demo videos. I'm especially confused by the last part. Aside from the cutscene, which EMP is not done instantly? Unless you are referring to the charge up where the machine performs a motion that signals they are about to use an EMP. Yes, you're supposed to simply exit the area before that happens but as the montage videos show, you can remain in the area and dodge.

I have played NieR. I know what you're talking about. They are very fast- they are not instant. I also think dodging the lasers based on the lines that appear before they're shot isn't outspeeding a laser. At no point can you achieve that. So I don't agree with the calc. The EMPs are simply additionally sus because normally EMPs aren't displayed as FTL in speed.
    TheAngryOrange
Why is it not instant? It's a one frame difference from when there is no EMP to when you see the EMP (as in one frame where you have no EMP, then go to the next frame and it's completely there). You can find videos on youtube and use watchframebyframe. There's no wave you can track

Actually you can achieve that. I have two montages demonstrating this. You can see me run into the lines and even standing still in the lines before it's shot. I also fullfill the requirements for it to count as a dodge. I'm standing still before the firing so it isn't a miss. And since I didn't perform the dodge itself, it wasn't from anticipation. The easiest way to do it and be confident of no player anticipation is to use auto-chips. That's why the characters kept spam dodging and sometimes even dodged back into the laser. And even when you stand directly in front of the laser, the auto-dodge chip will dodge the laser. You can do this for lasers that don't have any warning for it too like the Pod laser program and koshi laser. With the exception of two dodges, all the dodges in the videos were done by auto chip. I don't have the Koshi dodge laser dodge but I can get video of it. But I do have dodges of the Pod laser program. And Pod lasers don't have a line appear.

Would a montage of pod laser program only be required? Keep in mind all these dodges are easily replicated. You can try for yourself. I can give you the chapter and locations if you want to test this yourself. Would doing these dodges yourself be enough?
    TheAngryOrange
Will this suffice? The first bit of the video focuses on the pod program laser which doesn't have any warning line. Second bit is a demonstration of the distance this can be performed from. Once again, none of the dodges are performed by me. I'll put it on the calc blog too.

I wasn't sure where you prefer to take your messages. I hear some ppl prefer to communicate over here but I left a message on the blog as well just in case.

Alright, I've removed the explosion section and I've put in a source that says EMP move at light speed. How do the calculations look now?

I prefer them here, yes. I can take another look soon.
Hello. Could you evaluate my calculation for me? It's just a strength and speed calc.

    Thank you

hey mr. bambu i know a lot of times in fantasy elves tend to be among the prettiest races.

    but

are there any other races in fiction/fantasy in general

that are prettier than even elves?
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
I don't particularly pay much mind to the beauty of races, since my personal choice in aesthetics are more in favor of grim, apocalyptic tones. That said, I do rather like the look of the Dranei from World of Warcraft, so I suppose they'd be my first choice.

    okay thanks

    but what about lore?
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
Plenty of creatures outshine elves by lore. I'll mostly reference D&D creatures here.

    • Succubi use magic to cheat this, but generally appear as literally the most attractive possible thing to the person viewing them.
    • Ki-rin are so beautiful that people weep tears of joy in their presence. This includes people who have seen the actual gods, including the god of beauty.
    • LeShay are said to be "to elves as elves are to humans".
    • Nymphs and shit tend to rank higher on the wily beautiful fey list than elves.
    • As mentioned above, gods.
    • While it isn't beauty in the same sense, Dragons are typically considered to be more physically attractive than most other creatures (including elves), albeit not in the same way. Mind you, this does not extend to all dragons, but rather true dragons- this excludes things like wyverns and such.
    • Medusae, ironically, were once more beautiful. They made deals with demon lords for temporary, awe-inspiring beauty- what we tend to fight, the creatures that turn people to stone, are the withered-out after effects.
    • Couatl share traits with dragons and ki-rin in that they are considered beautiful beyond compare by a lot of cultures.
    • Certain genies use magic to amplify their beauty to supernatural degrees.
    • Eladrin are a close-relative of elves that are often held in higher regard in this particular area of interest.
's all I can think of rn, elves in D&D though are fairly common things.
Hey bambu, i have some questions regarding D&D
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
From a VSBW point of view, a level 17 mage would be Low 7-B. For a general idea of scale, I'll provide you with the list we currently use. I should note that I'm only providing the 5e list since every edition varies a smidgeon due to creatures that have the feats that we scale from shifting around a little in level/CR.

For all intents and purposes level is considered equal to CR. CR is a measuring stick that equates 4 level 1/2/3/4/etc adventurers with one creature of that CR, and means it is a moderate challenge to that group of adventurers. This is integral to our scaling.

Levels 1-2: 9-B and Subsonic, scaling to Burning hands (among other 9-B tier feats, obviously, but I'm only going to list the main one, e.g., the highest) for AP and arrow dodging for speed.

Levels 3-4: 9-B, possibly 9-A scaling to a feat performed by the Rothe, which can shatter stone walls. Their speed remains the same.

Levels 5-8: 9-A+ and Hypersonic+/High Hypersonic+, scaling to the Conjure Barrage spell, as well as the Call Lightning spell, which is cloud-to-ground lightning that can be dodged.

Levels 9-10: 8-C, scaling to Cone of Cold, which can freeze tens of creatures solid with a single cast.

Levels 11-12: High 8-C to 8-A with Relativistic+/FTL, scaling to a number of spells that we couldn't agree on where they land. The light speed stuff comes from an older spell known as Anger of the Noonday Sun, which generates sunlight that you can dodge.

Levels 13-17: Low 7-B+, scaling to legendary dragons creating terrain effects around their layers (such as earthquakes and storms) at a wide radius.

Levels 18-24: 6-C+, scaling to the Elemental Lords like Imix and Olhydra. These characters scale to (again) the terrain effects of these lords, which include causing colossal earthquakes, changing the biomes of their homes, and creating massive storms that ragdoll enemies.

Levels 25-33: Low 6-B+/6-B, scaling to Elder Evils such as the Leviathan and the Hulks of Zoretha. The feat itself is Father Llymic freezing the world, though how this is done is vague- it is either via ******* with the rotation of the earth or downright changing the temperatures to make the entire world into an arctic climate.

Levels 34-56 (not that this is actually in 5e): High 6-A, scaling to certain powerful creatures such as, notably, the Phaethon and the Murderoid. The former is the reason the cores of worlds are heated, and the latter is, itself, a planet with a diameter of 600 miles at maximum.

Levels 57+: High 6-A, possibly 2-A, scaling to Hecatoncheires, one of the highest CR creatures ever published. The creature is stated to be able to slaughter pantheons of gods, but it is inconsistent with its ratings so we don't consider this a solid Tier 2 tiersetter.

    Hope this helps.

it does help in terms of VSBW, but i mean more oriented towards the game in general

so the max would be >57 give or take?

as for tiers on magic i know that the lower they are the weaker, but i also saw some stuff about how u can put a tier 1 spell on a tier higher and stuff like that?
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
The maximum level depends on the edition of the game you're in- not every edition releases "epic level" content because, frankly, it doesn't sell as well. People tend to prefer running lower level stuff. For 3.5e, maximum level was infinite- the highest Challenge Rating creature was 97 or thereabouts. For 5e, maximum level is 20 and the highest CR creatures are all considered 30, even though their strength level at 30 (both in VSBW terms and mechanically, in-game) varies wildly.

I don't really understand your question about spells. Are you referring to upcasting? (e.g., using higher level spell slots to cast lower level spells with advanced power)
Think you can take a look at my blog here?

If I must be honest with you, Joe

I don't often take up your requests for help because of the hassle in doing so. Not only are the requests often for rather large projects, aid that I do give (be it evaluations for calcs, working on a CRT, and so on) generally end up either ignored by you until others butt in, or just actively fought against or misunderstood. It is a pain to become involved in multiple projects where it seems my input is not actually wanted.

I wish you luck with your projects.

Hey, I will try to get to this, but I am excessively busy of late. Moreso than usual, that is. Researching for a new page has made it so I must read over a dozen books to prepare. It'll be my 500th page so it is important to me.

    Oh is ok, Understand.

I'll ask someone else.. thanks anyway.
Hey I hate to bother you but I know you have helped with Terraria revisions before, and other staff members I've asked for help on my thread haven't responded, so could you take a look at this thread I made. If not that's perfectly fine.
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
I'll take a look at this later, sure.
I have a question regarding your Great Serpent Calc, how is not considered calc stacking? Not disputing its validity but is it because you used framechecks for the speed + mass?
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
What about it makes it seem like calc stacking to you? I use no prior calc to get the speed, rather I simply garner the speed of the serpent as it appears in game. So, for example, it would be calc stacking to say "I have calculated the character's movement compared to the lightning of the divine dragon, let's use this to get KE".
    Naito-desu
    Naito-desu
Ah alright, I see. I assumed the framechecking of Great Serpent's speed to be a calc of its own, hence why I wanted clarification. Thanks!
Yo, a question. What does the inverted moon icon above your profile photo mean?
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
I didn't make my pfp, it actually comes from a not-very-well-known tabletop game called "MORK BORG". The upside down crescent moon is indicative of life and death, however I don't know if that's what the creators intended (though I assume it is, given that's very on-brand for MORK BORG).
    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
    I will do so.

There are 38 bombs in the scene, however I am only calculating the part for pulverizing the steel floor (which in total has 3.5 bombs). I didn't calculate the whole thing because the bombs are the same but the materials are different, which would make the damage distribution vary, so for simplicity I calculated the part that affects the strongest material

monster ear height is 20.7825 meters and there are 36 pixels
    1 pixel = 0.57729166666
the total pixels contained in the explosion is 264 blast width is 152,405 m
    ((x/0.28)^3)/1000 =((0,152404/0.28)^3)/1000 = 0.00016125567 megaton / 161.25567 Ton
Could you please evaluate if there is something wrong?
do you know how to calculate the volume of this cloud?

So do I have to use Condensation Value = Water Mass x Latent Heat of Vaporization of Water to find out the joules?
I have calculated the area of the waterpark island, although I still doubt it is 600 - 700 meters

    Mr. Bambu
    Mr. Bambu
I don't think we have a standard for that outside of the speeds listed on the large size thread. Otherwise it's just vaguely higher, or based on feats performed when they're larger.

Then how do I properly calculate the AP the same way Therefir did it?
