Based on the Wiki Mid-Godly Regen is: The ability to regenerate from the complete erasure of one's body, mind, and soul. But since Gerard and Aizen don't have a physical body they don't qualify.

Do yall think Ichigo vs Nnoitra is a good skill feat? He's able to contend with an opponent who's much stronger than him + he literally can't damage him for multiple chapters. Of course bruh. Nnoitra was also the most skilled swordsman of the Espada, even more than Ulquiorra.

I guess being made of physical atoms rather than spiritual atoms is essential for the regeneration of a spiritual body, mind, and soul. in Bleach, the kokoro (tamashi), which is the essence of a being, and the konpaku, the spiritual body that holds both the kokoro and the mind, are two different things.
