Magi General Discussion Thread

Can someone send me a scan of the phrase in the speed section of the Magi Gods that indicates that it is outside and beyond the normal space time continuum?

I have no idea where this comes from; the closest I could get to an origin was this ↓↓↓
Immeasurable (Outside of and beyond regular space-time continuums. Can walk in the Sacred Palace, where time does not exist)

Please don't make calculations based on the dark continent statement. The dark continent in question and the dark continent depicted on the map are not the same. The one where it takes 40 years to travel across is completely spatially separated from the rest of the planet

That’s not really the case though, unless I’m missing something it’s just the same dark continent from the original world copy and pasted onto the magi world, it’s still the one depicted on the magic worlds map.

Yeah I was about to say I don't recall the actual structure of the continent being any different aside from location placement.

Actually it would be more like 30x bigger. Walking around the earth takes 3 years and just the dark continent would be 40 years.

You are (also, I can't open the linked images). The dark continent on the map and the one from Alma Torran are very much not the same. The dark continent that they had to traverse was actually located in the old world and they are separated by the great rift.
One place is where the Fanalis look human, the other one is where they are Red Lions. They are simply both called that because, uurgh. I dunno tbqh, but it's very very explicit about this. I can get the scans later if needed.

The old world and the new world are one in the same now, he brought the dark continent from the old world and literally merged it into the new one

That combined world is very different geographically from both Alma Torran and the one Ugo made. There is no map for the combined world.

Who is handling Magi upgrade CRT?
It's mainly me Deon, the guy who is best at scaling a verse he isn't allowed to scale on here, a hand full of regular users who are just kinda in the server and two staff who idk if they want their names to be dropped just yet.

We have to take our time to analyse any counter argument that will be brought before the CRT
That's also sth we are currently doing and trust me, we had some of the wackiest arguments you can imagine on there.

Hey guys, i'm planning to read Magi and i feel like i should ask, when do i start Sinbad no bouken? After i finish Magi? Or is there a specifc chapter or arc i should stop Magi, read Sinbad, and then finish Magi?

Honestly, I think you should start with Sinbad, a lot of context there improves the experience of reading Magi and a spoiler doesn't really exist there.

Besides being the correct chronological order but this isn't even that relevant.

For the love of God, don't start with Sinbad. Sinbad no Bouken is very clearly written for an audience that already read Magi. It also spoils A LOT! Like, whole plot twists you aren't aware of until chapter 300ish. Finish Magi and then read Sinbad.

What Spoiler? None of the "spoilers" are relevant, and you lose a lot of context that improves the quality of your reading.

I don't wanna get into the nitty gritty here due to spoilers, so I'll just say this much.
I genuinely think that knowing Sinbad's backstory makes him less enjoyable in the main story (tho that's very subjective). It also removes an insane amount of tension.
The last arc of SnB is a massive spoiler. No two ways about it. Shinobu even lied about the events in Magi as to not spoiler it for SnB, which in and of itself should tell you in what order it should be read. To be more specific, I'm talking about why Sinbad is half fallen. You might get away
with reading SnB up to the last arc, but definitely not the last arc itself. Heck, the end of the last arc ends at the start of the Balbadd arc (which is also majorly spoiled by revealing Alibaba's background and relationship with Kassim) and not the beginning of Magi, so it's not even properly chronological.

Edit: I think the only saving grace of reading SnB first is that it would make the pirate arc far more bearable, as Madaura would be a more interesting character. However, as much as I hate that arc, it's just not worth the tradeoffs. Also, you just straight up aren't supposed to know a lot of the context that SnB gives.
Telling someone to read it before Magi because of that is like telling people to read books backwards, since the conclusion will help them understand the setup.

Is this a general verse overhaul for most of the relevant characters?

The effect is the complete opposite, knowing about Sinbad makes you have much more tension with everything that involves him in the main story, mainly because the main story fails to really give importance to Sinbad even as it constantly tries to give importance to him and the final arc goes to another level when you already have Sinbad's entire story.

This "spoiler" is not even a spoiler because it is a complement to something that was not explained in the work and this improves the final arc because with this explanation you don't get the feeling that the plot has changed from what it was suddenly.

I admit that this takes away some of the suspense of this plot, but in return it greatly increases Alibaba's development because literally all of his actions are resignified and instigates you much more.

Like I said, I could make a hard deep dive into this, but I won't since it'll just be spoilers upon spoilers (and I really gotta finish studying), so I'll leave it at what I already said.
