Death Battle Season Ten Discussion Thread (1) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

It sucks that I want this fight to be the massive 'throw everything these characters have ever had' animation that brings the first fight into the new age...But I know that's just not what Modern Death Battle is. It's not feasible like it used to be.

I'm likely not going to be satisfied by the animation due to what this fight should be Vs. what it will be. And regardless of who wins, the aftermath in the comments and on threads like these are going to be...tiresome.

Nem was right, everyone IS obnoxious.

I am not surprised if that is the case but Supes is still getting the AP via cosmology.

The only possible copium way is that SDBH Goku haxes Supes, which after all this time would be hilarious. The Wiki list on SDBH Goku's powers is kinda silly and super dumb if its true.
 
Yeah, DB is selective in who gets respect and who gets AAAAIIIIEEEEEEEd. Its dumb.

Ok, for some more crackpot theory, I havent read "Archie" Dragon Ball, but it seems Goku absorbed the power of Universe Tree to gain strength? As in, the very specific way in which DC characters have lost before to Marvel, power absorption? If they want to pull memery I guess thats a thing.

Some fans get a Discord, who gets to show such a wide variety of abilities and tricks right to the end, leaving their opponent either completely screwed over in their victory or earning their respect with a dignified way of going out.

From what I can tell from the profile, the absorption looked like it required outside help to do, so I don't think that's standard?

Yes. Fu grew the Universe Tree which absorbed energy from the multiverse and then he tried to erase Goku with it and Goku managed to control the power and wield it until the tree's roots were destroyed by Super Shenron.

It's a temporary power up that Goku has no business using in Death Battle's format. They didn't give Kakashi access to DMS or Susanoo so it'd be very strange for them to give Goku the Universe Tree.
 
Jumping back onto this forum for the first time in awhile because I just heard that GvS3 is happening.

Being the massive Goku fanboy that I am, as one would expect, I'm pretty anti-hype about this. In fact I don't think there's a MU they could have announced that would have disappointed me more than this, honestly. I saw it at the end of Rick vs The Doctor and legitimately thought it was a joke, at first. I know that sounds stupid, but keep in mind that the last thing I ever heard them say about the MU was in GvS2, so the only context I had was them essentially saying that Superman will always beat Goku because that's just the philosophy behind how the character is written (at least that's how I've always interpreted the ending of GvS2). With that in mind, I thought it was a joke because, following that train of thought, why would you ever bother doing a rematch? The outcome would be pre-determined.

Though I've since learned from reading up on this thread (thank you guys for that, by the way) that their opinions have changed a bit from what they said back then.

Anyway, I'm not disappointed because of the outcome. Don't get it twisted, I'm under no pretension of who the winner should be. It's more that just like, I dunno, do we really need this? Like I said, I know that their takes on the fight have apparently evolved since 2015, but I'm just not really convinced that that's going to make a difference here? Is that crazy to say? I still think it's just going to end with Goku getting rolled and them saying the same thing, just slightly different (IE not claiming that Superman is limitless). Not that I would even blame them for doing that, to be clear. It's just that, unless they wanna throw Goku a pity W (which I both somewhat doubt will happen and think might actually be worse), that's really the only way the fight could go. It's all kinda been done already, it's retreading old ground, so to speak.

Also this more of just a me thing, but I just kinda don't like watching my favorite fictional character get washed and/or die repeatedly. I don't mean that in the fanboy-ish "Oh Goku should actually beat everyone" kinda way, but more in the sense that it's just kinda... depressing? Especially in GvS2 where you're watching Goku throw out everything he has against an opponent that's literally impossible for him to beat and then get killed. It's like having a Rabbit with a broken leg fight a Coyote, you're just sending it out to die.

Wow that got a little morbid, sorry.

Hey, can any Superman fans cite his resistance to Existence Erasure? I'm kind of curious because SDBH Goku has Hakai and with the Universe Tree powers he has the destruction energy of all the Gods of Destruction and he's stated to surpass Zeno, who's own EE is superior to the GoDs.

The key for Goku to win is never on finding a strong Goku, but a version, an incarnation, of Goku stronger than the Superman counterpart.
