But fr, the fact that even THIS long after he died in the series, with him literally showing up in a total of like 5 or 6 chapters, he is STILL one of the most popular characters in the story, is such a demonstration of how cool of a villain he was. Why don't ONE and Murata just give him a little side story. Like a bonus chapter on Boros' life before coming to Earth? That would be so ******* cool.

not really, boros is a mid villain

season 1 just just too perfect, the animation is the charm, MadHouse made him cool.

According to himself he is. Boros could literally just be wrong for a variety of reasons (hell, maybe Boris was on a mission against God even before Boros was born, and Blast was actually a rookie in the group), or Boris might not be a member of the specific race Boros is talking about, we just don't know. I want Boros to be this strong but it's just ridiculously unlikely, especially given how inconsistent it is with scaling.

Like, even to a casual Saitama, Boros barely registered as a somewhat impressive opponent, not in terms of how much he compares to Saitama, but just in terms of how much he compares to the foes Saitama had encountered prior. It was just a difference of the fact that Saitama literally doesn't even remember almost any of his "opponents" because they are so unfathomably weaker than him that they just don't really process as an enemy to him, Boros being able to survive his punches and surprise him with his power and speed was enough for Saitama to acknowledge that Boros is definitely on another level from the usual Monster, but nonetheless, even Boros was a total non-threat and still couldn't compare. Even Normal Punch's from Saitama could take off his limbs or crush his internal organs and send him flying back dozens of feet. Meanwhile Blast was performing decently well against initial Awakened Garou prior to the SPS, who was equal to a casual Saitama. I mean, shit, that version of Garou literally rivaled a Two-Handed Consecutive Normal Punch's BEFORE fighting Blast, whereas a VASTLY weaker Saitama turned Boros into barely recognizeable paste with just a one-handed Consecutive Normal Punch's. This is ignoring the fact that Blast and 3 teammates (including Boris of course) could condense and redirect the power of two Serious Punch's, which is incomparably above Boros as well.

This would be a HUGE retcon to Boros' power for no real reason at all, when they can save the illogical retcon and just make it so that Boros didn't actually know all members of his race.
But what if they just ignore that

Second best villain behind Garou. God will probably be the second best villain by the end of the series but not yet. Orochi is actual mid.

He was among the most popular characters before the anime began. Season 1 is dead in popularity and has been for years and people still love him in the OPM community. What is bro wafflin' about.

Also you’re severely underestimating saitama’s vision of Boros
While calling Boros strong by itself means that he was actually able to feel a difference between him and other opponents unlike like Orochi and Gouketsu, the fact that he said “almost a real fight” is a direct comparison to saitama’s own power, which puts a big hole in your idea that none of saitama’s statements were about Boros’ strength relative to himself
Even ignoring the he took damage statement, the anime guidebook even says that meteoric burst boros “kind of clobbered” Saitama, while also saying MB was beyond the limit of living beings.

You think I don't know these things? Lil' bro I was one of the OG Boros supporters before you were active here.

The only one of these points that are relevant to the discussion we're having is the "almost a real fight" statement that I'm aware of, but this statement is really debated about a lot because people can't agree if Saitama is referring to Boros' power or referring to the general grandiose spectacle at hand, as he says that it LOOKS more like a real fight. I lean towards the former opinion that he's comparing Boros' power to his own but I long since gave up defending Boros in these lands.

If you want my personal opinion, I think Boros remains the 5th strongest character in OPM we've seen (disregarding Blast's team and only including Blast himself among them), but I'm not going to argue about it because it's literally a banned topic in this thread.

ONE isn't an idiot, and I'd like to say the same for Murata but his writing skills are...dubious. That would be such an oversight in the scaling of characters that are pretty important, it's just too unlikely.
Garou being shocked when his foe is tougher than a mountain despite having previously
1. Performed a mountain level feat against flashy flash in a much weaker form
2. Slicing Sage centipede
3. This shit

4. Saitama tanking the same attack that sliced Sage centipede in half (who is much larger than a mountain)
5. Proceeding to do extreme fa Jin soon after
6. Him literally being the one who destroyed the mountain in the first place
ONE is a terrible writer no cap

That's destructive capacity, which is a whole other subject from directly scaling characters to each other. If ONE actually had mountain level Garou in mind, every character weaker than that version of Garou would thus be below mountain level. I'm not even making an argument of AP, like how I didn't mention what the SPS energy did, and only mentioned the fact that Boros is nowhere near the power of Serious Punch's.

ONE is an amazing writer, honestly underrated af and better than most mainstream manga authors imo. But his powerscaling writing is wacky af, yeah.

But his powerscaling writing is wacky af, yeah.
Honestly this goes for more authors than I wish were the case. People forget how strong their own characters are so easily it's just silly sometimes. Like bro just write it down somewhere if it's that hard to remember.

I get that these guys aren't nerds going onto SpaceBattles forums with a calculator on hand at all times but it's like, it would be as easy as writing a character name and then next to it write "This guy can destroy a planet and move faster than light". How hard is it?

But that's an oversimplification of it. ONE clearly doesn't put too much thought into the powerscale of his universe, but this kind of gap is simply gargantuan. Even with destructive capacity aside, Boros is beneath comparison to Boris, their powers are genuinely in completely different leagues, it's a different level. In the same way as how Boros was unlike the previous opponents Saitama had faced, on a different level entirely, Boris is similarly above him.

Mixing up the powerscale of your characters occasionally=/=borderline literal amnesia. That would be comparable to ONE suddenly making Tank-Top Master stronger than Darkshine for no explainable reason. It fundamentally contradicts the basic level of power ONE set between the two characters from the get-go and is illogical beyond words.

I would love to but what's the reasoning? I'm guessing there's some but I can't recall him reacting to DSK at all.

Can someone explain why he DOESN'T scale yet? Like he very blatantly reacted to DSK's attack, even if only barely.
Yeah, I'll fix it later... It's pretty clearly a way to show the gap between C-B and A Class Heroes too. The other two getting immediatly tagged and Snek barely reacting.

Yeah it's fitting. Genos easily keeps up with DSK consistently the whole fight as well. Genos>>>>>Snek>>>fodders. It's a clean chain.

obviously he was among the most popular, he was created even before opm

I mean, tbf Psykorochi's Earth Slicer is more iconic than Boros CSRC and oh boy if it gets decently animated...

in 2020 youtubers went crazy with continent’s slice

and opm came back to the industry with strenght
