I mean he still wins most battles, and I find that the power scale, while not perfect, is at least more consistent than the anime imo. Plus the art is also great imho and constantly improving.

Goku has been badly handed in both anime and manga. In the anime they upped his stupidity, in the manga they made him a bad student.
The only time I have been genuinely fond of Goku's character from the BoG movie onwards is, surprise surprise, the Broly movie, where Goku shows insight and outright develops.
