As many know, on this day 18 years ago a most deplorable and insidious attack on the US Trade Towers happened.

For those who experienced the horrors or loss during that day I hope to say we all stand with you and against the terrorist organisation which commited the Murders.

For those who weren't directly affected I Hope you can spare a moment of your day to think of the people who died in the towers and those Heroes who went into the Towers to save innocent lives.

And remember, this thread is not for condemning, only to show support for those who have lost something or someone today.

May we never forget.

Yes we will never forget such a tragedy I'm very sorry for everyone that was hurt by this event and give my condolences to all there loved ones.

I was only 3 when this happened so I don't have any personal connections myself but this event has impacted me greatly ever since I learned of it and understood what it meant.

I don't think this thread is appropriate. It's not in the same category as Stephen Hawking, Stan Lee, or Kardashev passing away. It also invites unwanted discussion about Islam, which we don't need.
The point of this thread isn't to discuss Islam.

I see no reason to disallow a thread simply because it's not on the level of a recent celebrity dying.

Sera is probably correct. I will close this thread.

I'd rather hear Moritzva out first. So long as "that" isn't mentioned brought up, the thread should be fine. Though Andy and Crab pretty much agree that we shouldn't make a habit out of these "real life" threads. That's however, a discussion for another time.

Thanks, Sera.

I personally believe that, as long as we strictly forbid religious discussions of any kind involving this attack, there is little to no issue with the thread standing as it is. An emotional, likely decently short thread of respect and condolences can do no harm.

Real life threads are another topic altogether. Though I'd be interested in such a thread if it came to fruition, it is indeed a discussion for another time, as Sera said.

Me and Ant already dealt with that, in the OP is states:

And you're right, this isn't in the same league as Stan Lee's death, this is 2000x bigger and more important to remember.

Can people try to not interpret Sera saying "not in the same category" as her saying "those deaths were a bigger deal"

Agreed. That's not what she was implying, at all.

My condolences as well. I was in first grade when happened. Young enough to think getting attack wasn't strange but it was alarming to my father and the adults around me.

I truly wish all those who died that day who were expecting the day to be mundane as the day before, rest well in the afterlife.

My condolences to people who lost their lives and their family members and all those who were effected.

Still think this should be closed. It attracts controversy and trolls. For example the troll above me and the troll below me, both of whom have now been WHAM'd.
