As I've stated before the low end seems to be the safest and one of the two calc members agree with using the low end while the other seems to be split up.

I personally believe that the Meteor comes from space because as shown later in the series, a stronger attack named Deus Sema is used where a Meteor is pulled from Space and brought to the planet, so that shows that Sema itself is a spell in where someone summons a previously existing Meteor, that means Jellal didn't create the Meteor in the clouds, but summoned it from somewhere, and there are no Meteors just floating in the clouds, the Meteor would have had to be pulled from Space at the very least, and we shouldn't just counter reasons by saying that it's safer to assume Jellal created the Meteor which would make it fundamentally different from Deus Sema which is just supposed to be a stronger version of Sema, not an entirely different spell

I'll address the comments above.

That's a Fallacy By Association. Just because Sema and Deus Sema both involve dropping a meteorite doesn't mean they both accomplish this in the same fashion. With Irene's Deus Sema we are shown a clear shot of Irene's meteorite being pulled from Space meanwhile with Jellal we see no such thing. As we see his a hole being made in a cloud and his Sema appears. We don't have a valid way of knowing where his Sema came from unlike Deus Sema. I find it that assuming Jellal brought the meteorite down from space to be filled with assumptions, especially by scaling it to Deus Sema which in itself is a Fallacy By Association. Deus Sema is stronger for a reason and reason is that it comes directly from outer space. In Jellal's case it's never shown where it originated. I.E the low end is the safest route to take with the least amount of assumptions.

This isn't a valid counter argument either. It is indeed safer to assume the meteorite was made than to assume Jellal pulled it down from space whenever nothing supports it. Aside from Irene's Sema, which doesn't work since Deus Sema is stronger for a reason and we see how it's done. The Burden of Proof is on you to prove that it came from space, it's not us to prove a negative.

Also for those curious the description for Deus Sema is the following.

Deus Sema (þÑ×Òü«µÿƒÕ║ºÕ┤®ÒüùÒâçÒéªÒé╣Òâ╗Òé╗Òâ╝Òâ×Deusu Sēma) is a master enchantment, Using their overwhelming Magic Power, the user enchants an asteroid from space to come crashing down to Earth as a meteor. The meteor is large enough to completely obliterate a large battlefield and kill everyone on it upon impact. Deus Sema is also a much stronger version of the similar, yet different, Sema.

Vs Jellal's Sema description

True Heavenly Body Magic: Sema (þ£ƒÒâ╗Õñ®õ¢ôÚ¡öµ│ò µÿƒÕ┤®ÒüùÒé╗Òâ╝Òâ×Shin Tentai Mahō Sēma) is an advanced Heavenly Body Magic Spell.

The user bows down and points his hands downwards, with all the fingers closed except the index and middle fingers. The user then begins to slowly move their right hand until it points upwards, causing the clouds above them to begin circling around, forming a cyclone as the skies darken. From the center of the swirling formation, a glowing orb begins to form, growing in size until a humongous meteor emerges, falling quickly to earth towards the intended target. When the meteor hits, the force is strong enough to create a large explosion, which engulfs a wide area and releases a strong hurricane of air, also leaving a large crater in its wake.

I had assumed that Deus Sema was special because it was from space. Meaning regular Sema was formed. Deus Sema was shown coming from space while the two instances of Sema are just cloud level.

Being honest, I really don't care enough to argue, I'm honestly neutral, It can be either from space or from the clouds and it doesn't really make a difference to me, the issue is what we scale Lucy from the Alavarez arc and what they scale too

I agree with Hst's point of both being identical.

@Mitch

They still scale to Spriggan's since they can harm them and put up a bit of a fight. Sema is only relevant to scale Laxus, Jura, OS and the dragons.

The Fairy Tail wiki is just as valid as our own, I don't see why it can't be used for supportive evidence whenever it doesn't go against the source material. It looks the same because the meteorite is parting the clouds with its KE. In this case Jellal has the hole out in the cloud and then drops a meteorite from said hole in the cloud. We see Irene's coming from space, we don't see Jellal's coming from space. Simple as that

Honestly this seems like a outlier either way. If using the low end, that wouldn't explain why people who are comparable to this version of Jellal is capable of keeping up with and together beating spriggans and those comparable who are High 7-A. While using the Mid-End would make no sense regarding that it would put them above the resident Spriggan feat of 1.2 Gigatons.

I don't believe in using the FT wiki's description because it's no different from one of us saying that. It's not pulling from an official description or DB but a user assumption, which is the problem in the 1st place.

@Hst Master

To be fair, the 1.2 Gigaton feat is extremely casual spriggan level, also it ain't an outlier, it's not outrageously different from all the feats we have

@Rin

The FT wiki descriptions are just fan descriptions. Why would theirs be more valid than anyone elses?

@Hst

Not really. Both ends fit the scaling just fine. 7-B Sema means Jellal (and those who scale) is around the level of Etherious form demons. High 7-A Sema means Jellal's best attack is only at the level of a casual Spriggan.

If we can't use the FT wiki because it uses fan assumptions we shouldn't make assumptions ourselves. If the meteors are showed coming from clouds, whether Jellal created them or not, that's what we should work with.

Going against assumptions apply to our standards as well.

Honestly this would affect the characters in Tartoros arc and again some in the Alvarez arc. I had said this time ago and eve argued it

Sema = Earth

Deus Sema = Space

It is quite obvious the Hiro wanted to show his readers the difference between a weaker and a stronger Sema

I agree with the reasons above of going with the Low End.

We already go over it, jellal sema was come from the space, it was on fire, anime confirmed it

Considering that the meteor was likely formed from that ball of energy, that doesn't mean that the fire on the meteor had to be caused by friction.

That was fire, don't tell me we are assuming that Jellal make a chibaku tensie then drop it on oracian seis and somehow it light up, cause it didn't make any sense, jura who is actually a earth manipulator, he cause earth to shine up like this

@1997KD

To be fair, he could have created a portal and brought a Meteor through it in the clouds, my biggest issue with the Low-End was that would imply he created the Meteor, but it could have been summoned through a magical portal I guess

None of his abilities make use of portals though. Its probably a bigger assumption that he made a portal when we can see its a meteor, its on fire, it looks identical to another spell that calls one from space.

Grammy ability is reality warping, even when we assume it comes from space cause it was on fire, but jellal same isn't he created it, and that fire is just a light when he creates it.

Sound awesome? Right?

Jellal yoinking a meteor from space means it moves much faster. Its not like he grabbed one, dragged into the clouds, killed all its momentum and then let it fall from there. That would be stupid.
