And i've been around longer than a lot of staff too and besides if being a staff meant you were correct by default some staff would have changed the fundamental rules of science by not knowing stuff. And if you're talking about "only in terms of standards", i've seen staff claim things that go directly against the standards. So yeah, just saying "staff" isn't a good argument as there are plenty of cases where staff have been incorrect.
