Top 10 most potent eyes in fiction.

so are we going off from versatility or potency here?
Some sort of back and forth for some reason.

I don't get or see why though.

I would go with versatility or how useful the ability is in a fight, personally. However, I really don't care which rules are applied - only that they are consistent.

Well if we're going by versatility, then I'd nominate the Power of the Eye due to essentially being a swiss army knife for power. It can let the user see things that not even those with extrasensory perception can sense, grants immortality from god itself, and can make phenomena interventions, which is essentially all of this into one.

Reality Warping, Existence Erasure, Time Manipulation, BFR, Information Manipulation, Memory Manipulation, Causality Manipulation, Probability Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation (Type 2), Sealing, Quantum Manipulation and Fate Manipulation

Do locations count? If so, the Eye of Terror from 40k. It's a tear in reality where the warp bleeds over into realspace, formed by the birth of Slaanesh. It's 4-A/3-C sized, and is the ultimate fate of the universe should the situation with the Chaos Gods not change.

I don't think any of the other eyes on this list can get rid of the warp, but this may be cheating.

I think it has to actually be someone's eye. Not just a cosmic eye thing.

Otherwise, Sauro would be here, no?

I've been wondering about those actually. Would a Rinnegan count the Mangekyo and Sharingan as well or just the powers gained from that evolution? If its everything then you have seeing energy, copying movements, photographic memory, hypnosis/illusions, energy constructs, 3 unique powers (1 per Mangekyo and 1 from Rinnegan), increased reactions, gravity manip, soul rip which gives you peoples memories, animal summoning, connected fields of vision, weapon creation, energy absorbtion, one time reality warping/eternal illusion, access to the Gedo Mazou, resurrection and turning into a robot.

Both. If the ability has enough 3D hax to compete or be better than another stronger potency eye then yes it can make the cut. (My example is again with mind hax vs precog:

4D precog is still just precog, so while it's still infinite possibilities and all that there is not much else you can do

On the other hand: a 3D eye that mind haxes on sight would be FAR more useful in almost every scenario possible)

So if the character has enough versatility to fight against higher dimensional powers then yes.

It should have the strongest spot behind John because the power has a higher tier than Jagan and would easily beat a Jagan user.

With this logic, you should put the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception at the number 2 spot.

If you want to put Jagan above the Almighty because Jagan is on a higher dimensional level, then that is fine - but be consistent with your rules and make the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception second place if that is the case.

If you want to rate which eye ability would be "the most useful or most devastating to fight against" regardless of tier, then put the Almighty above Jagan, as it has the better powers of the two in a fight when potency is ignored.
MEoDP wouldn't win vs a Jagan user. MEoDP bring upon low 1-C conceptual death, but it's mechanics are too slow (it requires the user to cut the "life line"). So it has potency but not only is it a 1 trick pony that can get nulled by most type 8 and 9's but it also is a bit annoying to pull off as most notable haxed users are capable of 1 shotting the opponent on thought. The jagan would desimate MEoDP through speed alone, and in most fights the ease of use and speed of the Jagan would be far more devastating. MEoDP would stand more chance against low 1-C guys than the Jagan sure, but it would low chances even against 3D people.

"The most useful or most devastating to fight against" yes the potency still matters. But if said potency is almost useless compared to the versatility of another power then yes. In Jagan vs MEoDP the extra potency MEoDP has is useless against the Jagan since literally everything will end in Jagan's win. The same cannot be said about Almighty vs Jagan. Almighty has versatility, but that versatility is not enough to make the Jagan's potency useless. You're completely stramanning me. Im saying "both matter".

Don't pull the "bias" argument please. I would have said the same about Jagan vs John Tylor if that were the case and i would have put MEoDP above Almighty, not below it. Almighty's versatility can take care of MEoDP higher potency, the same cannot be said about Almighty vs Jagan. Anyway that's my last say on this. The poll also did end on Jagan's win.

Balor, who is a God of Death, has MeoDP and does it's thing with a glare. I thought we were ranking by max potential and not how the linked user uses it (and I don't think Ryougi actually needs to cut in her Void Shiki key). Balor would just glare at Ban and he'd be dead.

No, we'r ranking the eye alone. If the eye doesn't have the same effect on any user possible then it can't qualify. Which is why i didn't include people like GK.

Combining Eyes from Kagerou Project are again op - Universe level+ with Combining Eyes (Created Heat Haze, which is a perpetual and infinitely large universe with its own time. Marry, possessing an inferior ability of hers, was able to rewrite the fabric of time and the universe itself and "restart" it)

- An ability is unique to Azami and Marry. The ability to combine the powers of the other snakes, allowing her to control the Heat Haze and cause a number of reality-altering effects. Allows her to leave and re-enter the Heat Haze and the real world, as well as force others into in and out of them.

Eye of Vecna is an artifact from Dungeons and Dragons. Obviously, yeah, it's the actual zombified eye of Vecna.

To the person who mentioned Mystic Eyes of Death Perception above, a better eye would be Nasu Balor's eye which conceptually kills anything he glares at.
Balor has a different eye. MEoDP is a crappier version of it.

So...why wouldn't the Rinnegan count? It might not be potent tier-wise, but it has a lot of powerful hax, like being able to resurrect multiple people (albeit at the sacrifice of one's self), ripping out people's souls, energy absorption, body/technology manipulation, etc.

How about Dojutsu eyes ? It can reverse any killing intent directed at the user and make the enemy commit suicide
Wait, that might actually be good enough. Passive mind hax? That's definitely pretty good. The fact that it's passive makes it pretty useful.

Rinnegan vs Sharingan?

Composite Mangekyo Sharingan is very OP.

But non-composite kinda relies on the individual user, since they are all different.

Arcuied's mystic eyes or the mystic eyes of binding are pretty strong too

Also if we count Sni as eyes its precog and discernment are good too

Still no one talks about Combining Eyes from Kagerou Project, really? Combining Eyes from Kagerou Project - Universe level+ with Combining Eyes (Created Heat Haze, which is a perpetual and infinitely large universe with its own time. Marry, possessing an inferior ability of hers, was able to rewrite the fabric of time and the universe itself and "restart" it)

Allows her to leave and re-enter the Heat Haze and the real world, as well as force others into in and out of them.

Let's see other abilities:

  • Concealing Eyes: Ability given to Kido. This ability can divert perception away from objects and even people within two meters of herself and/or her surroundings, rendering them invisible. When using her ability at full strength, she can apply it to objects outside of a two meter radius, especially when the objects are interconnected, like a building.
  • Stealing Eyes: Ability given to Seto. This ability allows her to read information from the target's mind. She can also speak to animals using this eye ability.
  • Deceiving Eyes: Ability given to Kano. This ability can change what people around her see and show them something different, but she can only use it on himself, meaning she cannot change the appearances of others.
  • Locking Eyes: Unique ability to Azami. This ability allows her to turn people into stone. Shion inherited this power from her.
  • Drawing Eyes: Azami's ability not only allows her to draw peoples' attention, but it also causes them to lose focus of anything besides her entirely, making them drop anything they might be holding and fall to their knees.
  • Opening Eyes: Ability given to Ene. This ability allows her to be immortal and transform into a cyber-being, giving her control over even rudimentary electronic objects she possesses.
  • Focusing Eyes: Ability given to Hibiya. This eye ability allows her to perceive objects, locations, and people that are far away, from an aerial view. Unlike Hibiya, she has perfect control of this, and can perceive events worldwide.
  • Awakening Eyes: Azami's ability gives her the power to remake her body at will, surrounding her with a mass of black snakes. She can use this ability to heal from several fatal gunshots and presumably other otherwise lethal wounds.
  • Clearing Eyes: Ability given to Kenjirou. It allows her interfere with and stop the use of other eye abilities completely. The Clearing Eyes snake can also manipulate dreams and possess other eye users, however it is unknown if Azami is also capable of this, considering the snake's desire to conspire against her and humanity.
  • Favoring Eyes: Ability given to Ayano. This eye ability allows her to project her emotions onto others, which Ayano refers to as "the power of caring".
  • Retaining Eyes: Ability inherited by Marry and given to Shintaro. Allows her to remember everything she sees, including the events of past routes, unaffected by universal time resets.
All these eyes powers are in Combining Eyes plus what is said in their description.

Ok i am temporarily back.
Sorry about the wait. But to my knowledge, if his gaze falls on you you get erased, and he can apparently see across anywhere from the island he's on, to the whole planet at his best.

Right. Pretty sure I clarified a bit on that sometime ago too though Celestial has a better answer for it.

Mainly things like GK's glare not EE'ing but more atomizing something as well as inducing death (although I guess with what his Atomizing did could be argued for EE but I'm not keen on doing that on my end unless it's on a CRT).

As for range, it's really just atomizing anything he simply glares at or is in his presence. Mostly the glaring but it works instantly either way. Though he was going to atomize an island off the coast of France that can house and manage 100k students, he did it in another dimension that sits atop of the island in a rift in the universe or something. Planetary glare is done cuz of his Cracking Field expanding to a range that rivals that of the entire planet, which is why he has Planet level AoE Atomization + his other stuff like his Demonic Hands.

So yeah.
