The current first sentence of our welcome message reads:

"The purpose of this wiki is to index the statistics of characters from a variety of different fictional franchises."

I wonder if we should modify the paragraph to include a mention that we are the most popular character statistics wiki in the world today, in order to possibly further increase our popularity?

Statistically speaking, we technically are, but it might be seen as provocative bragging.

Hmm...I'm mixed with this one. As you said, we stastically are the most popular vs wiki and we have over 10,000 pages. But again, it might be a bit arrogant, plus it could backfire and cause people to view us as such. Then again, we are featured on Google so. It's 50/50.

Here's Colonel Krukov's input:

"I was thinking that putting "One of the most popular" as to not brag, and including statistics like: how many views, how many pages we currently have will be a good idea. This is so that people can't argue with hard facts, and it maybe a good idea to at least link to such things to provide evidence."

Sorry, but to me it sounds like bragging a bit too. I prefer our current message over it personally.

Well, never mind then. I vaguely recall that the OBD's front page makes a false claim about their wiki being the most popular, but we tend to try to avoid conflict as much as possible, as it would take far too much unnecessary energy.
