The Accepted Boros Calc

So Ryukama told me the accepted calc for Boros's final attack is this. I think this should be reconsidered because this is the collateral damage done after nullifying Boros's final attack. If two inelastic things collide, energy is lost. I think this can be compared to two bullets colliding in mid-air and then calculating how much damage one of the bullets does after the collision. Now I don't know if we should use the calc on Boros's page , but I definitely think we should not use the atmosphere splitting feat to determine Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon's power.

I agree with this. The entire point of the serious punch was to nullify the damage of boros's collapsing star roaring canon. And im pretty sure the atmosphere splitting feat was done by saitamas punch, not boros's attack. Boros's final attack is at least capable of destryoibg the surface of earth. Im pretty sure a surface wiping attack doesnt just cut the atmosphere.... it was nullified.

Well I was going off of this thread, in which the atmosphere calc had precedence taken over Boros's surface statement. And this led to the downgrade of both Saitama and Boros because of a change in the value of the calc, until said change was corrected.

Though I'm fine with either calc being primarily used depending on what staff thinks is best.

ryukama, this is a bit off topic but i was wondering. the japanese version for both the webcomic and manga are exactly the same. yet the english translations are different. in the english translation, the webcomic doesn't specify how much boros was going to destroy, but the manga states that he was going to destroy the surface. which one is correct? it doesnt make sense that the original japanese are the same, but the english translations say completely different things.

That does seem to be a potential issue, but I'm not skilled with translating from Japanese to English. So I can't decipher which tranlation is correct. Sorry.

yeah, i speak some japanese but i cant tell what it exactly saids. i've heard many times that the manga is the incorrect one though. if this is the case, then the "surface wiping" statement is bs. and the only actual statement we can go by is the databook and anime, with both stating that the attack is planet busting. i think boros's final attack was nullified, thats why it only cut the atmosphere. the original webcomic didnt even have the atmosphere cutting feat in it. i think murata just added it in because it looks cool, just like how he added the cliff being destroyed by saitamas death punch. i doubt a calculation for that is a good way to figure out the collapsing star roaring canons true power

Okay but it's better to find out the correct translation for sure before making a decision like that for now.

i want to, but the problem is.... i don't know how to find the correct translation. i can ask my japanese teacher to translate it, but even then, i have no way to prove that it's the correct translation on this site. and obviously google translates not gonna work

The translations of what Boros says is that he could shave/erase the planet.

So it could be interpreted as both a planet busting or a multicontinent busting attack.

@Spartan isn't the whole "shave/erase" the planet a translation from the guidebook? Not the translation of what Boros says in the manga/webcomic or am I mistaken?

yeah im pretty sure its the guidebook. i think the manga actually just says "i'll wipe you off the face of the earth" and its been mistranslated to "i'll wipe you out and the surface of the earth"

The two attacks collided and the splitting of the atmosphere was the result of the two (Energy can't be lost).Even if it is mentioned as a planet buster attack it was shown to be "only" Multi Continent level.

The atmospheric splitting isn't the result of the two, it is the energy left from the serious punch after nullifying the Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon.

You have a link to this?
I'll try to find it, but I've spoken to a few translators, they've all said that it could be interpreted as shave or erase.

Energy can't be lost or destroyed, only changed into different forms. The punch would only "scatter" the energy of the technique so the splitting contained the energy of both of their attacks. That's physics not a statement from the manga.

are we really applying real life physics to a fictional manga? i doubt murata was thinking about the laws of physics when drawing that feat.

And Murata'

We can EASILY see the text is the same, fonts aside Using this applicatio

http://www.onlineocr.net/

I managed to take the two texts as I try to translate them. The first is

"..."

"ÒééÒüåÒâ╝ÒüñÒü«ÕêçÒéèµ£¡ÒéÆÒüÅÒéëÒüê "

"Õà¿Òé¿ÒâìÒâ½Òé«Òâ╝ÒéƵö¥Òüí Þ▓┤µºÿÒéé Òéì Òü¿Òéé µÿƒÒü« Þí¿ ÚØó ÒéÆ µÂêÒüùÚúøÒü░ÒüùÒüªÒéäÒéìÒüå "

The first balloon has Òü¬ÒéëÒü░... which means "... If possible"

"ÒééÒüåÒâ╝Òüñ" means "another" " Òü«ÕêçÒéèµ£¡ÒéÆÒüÅÒéëÒüê " which was translated as " final trump card"

So far, using google translate (because I don't know Japanese) I was able to translate the first line as

"Õà¿Òé¿ÒâìÒâ½Òé«Òâ╝ÒéƵö¥Òüí - > And release [my] total energy

The second line is a little more.... weird, as it says

"Þ▓┤µºÿÒéé Òéì Òü¿Òéé " So far I have found that Þ▓┤µºÿ means "you" (it's actually Kisama, which roughly means 'you bastard') Òéé means 'also' although "Þ▓┤µºÿÒéé" seems to mean 'different' Òéì means 'filtration' (?) Òü¿Òéé seems to have to mean certainly

UPDATE: it also looks like a sentence of ÒüùÒü¬Òü░[ÒééÒéìÒü¿Òéé] which means 'to die all together'. So I guess it means you 'all together'

"µÿƒÒü« Þí¿ ÚØó ÒéÆ" µÿƒ means 'hoshi' AKA Star or planet Òü« Þí¿ ÚØó ÒéÆ means 'surface of".

µÂêÒüùÚúøÒü░ÒüùÒüªÒéäÒéìÒüå Another though line. It seems to be 'ÒéäÒéìÒüå' is the meaning for 'I will' ÒüùÒüª is 'and', µÂêÒüù means 'off' and ÚúøÒü░ means 'fly'.

As a tie breaker, I used the fight between Saitama and Boros in the anime to fully translate this

Boros there says "Õà¿Òé¿ÒâìÒâ½Òé«Òâ╝ÒéƵö¥Òüí,Þ▓┤µºÿÒééÒéìÒü¿Òéé,ÒüôÒü«µÿƒÒéƵÂêÒüùÚúøÒü░ÒüùÒüªÒéäÒéìÒüå" (Zen enerug─½ o hanachi, kisama moro tomo, kono hoshi o keshitoba shiteyarou). SOURCE HERE https://youtu.be/Hj4uW5FdZMc?t=370

He pretty much says the same things except that, rather than "µÿƒÒü« Þí¿ ÚØó ÒéÆ" he says "ÒüôÒü«µÿƒ" (This planet).

So yes, indeed, Boros is multi continent in the manga, while he is possibly updated to planet in the anime (not sure because surface wiping can be interpreted as 'planetary destruction').

I know that energy cannot be created or destroyed though in some fiction that rule does not exist, but consider this as two objects colliding, one as the shockwave of the serious punch, the other as the collapsing star roaring cannon, when they collide assuming they're inelastic, the system loses energy, and the lost energy from the system is released to the surrounding. Also it does not make sense for an attack that is supposedly at least surface wiping to be able to be nullified by an attack that isn't surface wiping.

@Jonathanlighter Of course writters care little about physical laws but that's how we work, if there are evidence against the existance of certain laws then we don't use them, if not we do.

I think that Kkapoios seems to make sense.

I will close this thread then.
