Super Mario General Discussion Thread.

I think they're just scared of him, there's a few minigames where he just beats the shit out of them and they don't really fight back (obviously they could fight back but like, idk it's mario party, i don't think consistency is their biggest priority).

I also don't think Bowser Spaces are actual probability hax, he's literally just spinning the wheel on what he wants to do to you. If you get "lose a star" and don't have one he just changes the punishment to be something else, if you get "gain 100 stars" he just makes up an excuse and runs away, in Jamboree on the Bowser map he can even just punch through the roulette and straight up just say you have to give him the star (which i suppose is 4WA).

He uhm, can make portal and mini tornado in mario party 6 🙂

Given what we are shown it rarely ever seems the player characters are actually giving away their coins or stars they just start flailing in a panic as it happens. Maybe there is some sort of telekinesis reaching into their hammerspace but that's about it.

I noticed a possibly interesting fodder feat recently.

In Super Mario 64, if the Chain Chomp in Bob-omb Battlefield is hit by a Bob-omb's explosion, it will be launched as high as its chain allows, going practically straight up.
It can be assumed the Chain Chomp was launched, since this happens while it's still tied to a pole, & even when freed, it seems to need smaller jumps to build up to bigger jumps.

I haven't done any actual measurements (& truthfully, I am a lazy person, so I'd prefer if someone else made the calc blog, but....), but I have done some math.

Assuming 3 meter radius, density of iron (Smash Brawl Trophy implies this, & Smash 4 states it, & Super Paper Mario Tattle states it to be iron.), spherical shape & removing an eighth for the empty space that is its mouth, if I did my math right, the Bob-omb Battlefield Chain Chomp would weigh about 779,212 kilograms.

IDK how fast it's moving, & while I've seen it on Twitch, not sure how nor where to get footage.

So a Bob-omb's explosion, even if said explosion destroys the Bob-omb, being able to launch said otherwise impervious Chomp, might be notable.
Especially if we're to assume it can scale to others for surviving such explosions.

It's fodder, assuming the 779 tons is correct, and assuming it gets launched max distance in 1 frame (1/30th of a second) and the chain is 10 meters (it's definitely not that), it's only High 8-C. It's actually probably more like 9-A all things considered given the chain is smaller and i doubt it happens all in 1 frame. Even just 2 frames would chop it in half.

Launching it isn't exactly a scaling feat. it isn't hurt by it, it's probably akin to how Saitama got ragdolled by the Kabuto dude.

Ig it might be decent IF it happens in 1 frame, could be tier 8 support for fodder but if it's anything less it's just a bit feat.

IDK the exact length, but the chain's... orbs do seem exceptionally spread out in such a state from what I remember. Do you have footage?

Considering it'd be for fodder, that might still be relevant.

IDK about not being a scaling feat, it's the only time anything affects that Chomp, IIRC. I don't recall if throwing a cork box or punching or kicking it does anything.
Not to mention, some media does use launching a foe away as a form of defeat, & even outside of Smash, knockback in response to being hit is a thing.

I did preface it by saying "a possibly interesting fodder feat"; I'd assume Mario himself has better stuff to scale to. (Him being unable to harm it could be Game Mechanics/PiS because you're supposed to free it so it jumps wildly about & breaks the bars to get access to the star, as opposed to what seems to be a deliberate animation for it being hit by an exploding Bob-omb.)
