Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

No, they actually state in the mission description that Sonic’s power is “no match” for the Golem, and later say the Golem’s power would rise high enough that it would burn the world.
Blast is talking about this.

Could someone explain to me how the IDW comics became part of the game continuity on VS wiki?

I don't think the Japanese creators at SEGA read the IDW comics and have their own interpretation on the characters of Sonic the Hedgehog:

Ah, it was decided in this thread

I, too, miss the days when they were separate continuities. But it is what it is, what Sega says is the final say-so.

That's partially why both JP and ENG dubs are used for Sonic (though we try and prioritize dubs), as Sega has acknowledged that both visions for Sonic are equally valid

IDW's characterization is mostly ass, but they are sadly canon, yes.

Nope, cuz if you think about it then Jahannam being in the Arabian Nights means that it only is confirmed to exist in a fictional universe of a fictional universe

Wouldn't call it awesome though
wouldn’t that just mean that humans in the Sonic world used concepts of Islam in their stories?

COWARDS RUN I WIN 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥

SEGA of America or SEGA of Japan?
Japan led it but that ideology endorsed by both, that's why Frontiers' dub is at times vastly and radically different (and Shadow Gens at times, too). But both JP and ENG are held in equal status with one another
Of course when you say we prioritize dubs, if that were the case then what's this?
All I can say is Mario is Mario and Sonic is Sonic. Sonic's canonicity is treated differently by his company than Mario's is by Nintendo, that much is clear. And not every verse has identical guidelines as to what's usable and not, it's case-by-case

Not really relevant to Sonic, but it’s both hilarious and interesting how Culex being this space-time level threat is consistently pushed by English media when that idea arguably doesn’t exist at all in the original script. Closest thing you get is the “power that rules over creation” thing which is kinda vague on its own.

If you have a problem with IDW being canon, then just remake everything using subs alone
On that note a Sonic anime that covers the events of idw would be pretty cool. With afew rewrites of course because I'm still salty we didn't see Master Overlord fight Burning Blaze and Super Sonic.

Anyone can decide on what they accept as their headcanon, which universally isn't much different from company canon hierarchically, but for the purposes of this wiki, it's often preferred to follow the company canon, when it exists, because of the predictability of the future works, that is, it's more likely to fit with what will happen later on in a series, instead of having to reconcile different canons without the ability of actually shaping the works.

Sometimes, a different canon can be accepted as a work of its own here (Like how Star Wars Legends can continue having profiles). Theoretically, it should be possible to create profiles for Early Sonic canon using the USA manuals and the Sonic bible for example, it just needs to have enough people caring about it and doing good work about it.

As of now Japanese-only and American-only Sonic canons overlap a lot (After all, they are mixed teams, so the content of Gerald's diary that was made by the USA team included Japanese-only material, and later on Japanese translation also included American-only details), so there isn't much reason for the purposes of this wiki (Which is to index power and abilities) to make profiles only looking for one side of the canon.

Sega of America or Sega of Japan?
The idea of having one unified Sonic came directly from the mouth of Takashi Iizuka, I don't think there's a large difference between the two (And even Eitaro Toyoda would tweet about that a few times). It's not one absolute unity because even in the most minute details there are always going to be inherent differences in how Sonic will be portrayed in American, Japanese, Spanish, or even Portuguese dialogue, it's just how languages and localization work on a corporate level.

It's just that those minute differences do not matter enough to make two different canons for modern Sonic on this wiki. It's perfectly possible to make that work somewhere, which is why everyone is free to go and make their own version of any profiles and pages on their own, just not on this wiki.

Moro is genuinely the only silver lining of this episode. Genuinely the GOAT.
The editors did an amazing job in the analysies too. And I like the conclusion to Eggman's rundown about how his character arc may be the opposite of the one Gerald went through. The only issue with the final product is the research and how it was applied, which is a big deal, don't get me wrong. I still completely get why you didn't like the episode. I just think it has several other positives
