Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Right I guess they did mention having future plans I straight up forgot they mentioned that. Also turns out I made a mistake not looking into this deep enough since they arent going out of business but they are still cutting costs down and laying people off.

Should have googled it sooner since it was only paramount TV studios shutting down so whoops.
 
Sonic question time: As members of a VS site and part of the Sonic fan base I imagine most of us have at some point thought of VS matches involving a Sonic character that would be interesting for one reason or another. That in mind I ask is there an unconventional match up involving a Sonic character that most people wouldn't think about that you think would work in a VS show for animation potential, character banter/interactions or just for the sake of a fun debate.

For me my unusual pick that I think would work is marvel cinematic universe Tony Stark vs paramount Robotnik.

Connections and contrasts: Both began their story's as somewhat similar with both being orphaned geniuses and narcissists that used their gifts to aid the military either directly in the case of Eggman or indirectly for Iron Man. However both then took radically different paths in life with Tony becoming a hero by leaning from his mistakes and becoming a more humble person who sacrificed himself to save half the universe while Robotnik embraced his narcissism and pursued ultimate power to subjugate the universe.

The debate itself: The mcu has some great feats but with what we saw of Sonic 3 it seems the stats are going to became genuinely close between these two even if I think Iron Man would still win.

Banter: Between Tony's snark and Robotniks ego these two would absolutely beat on each other verbally as much as physically and I am willing to bet their dialogue would be solid gold.

Animation potential: We have the badniks, egg pod, death egg robot, the master emerald and so on vs the iron legion, hulk buster nano tech armour etc I could imagine an animated show down between these two would be hype with the two of them constantly one upping each other and planning around their opponents tech.

Saw this on a Discord I'm in, but hear me out: Jet the Hawk vs Jet-Vac from Skylanders. Anthro birds who use an unconvential method of flight and are members of a famous (or would "infamous" be more accurate for Jet?) group of individuals known all over the world and are highly respected as a result. Also, they both are known to partake in races.

As for who would win, well... TBH, I'm not entirely sure. I know Jet has some pretty decent stuff (especially thanks to Speed Sim), but despite having played all the console games as a kid I'm not particularly knowledgable on Skylanders and its stuff. Doesn't help that VS Battles Wiki's pages for the series might not be up to date. FWIW, though, I know for a fact that most if not all of the Skylanders scale to each other, and Jet-Vac in particular is one of the ones who fought against The Darkness, who should be at least Universal from what I remember.

Hey Shake, is there a ETA for when the second part of the Shadow Gens CRT will be releasing?

Not to rush you or anything, I wouldn't want you to release a rushed and unfinished CRT or anything like that, but I'm just curious if you've had stuff going on IRL which delayed its release and all that stuff.

No, I understand why you're asking, I take no offense to your question.

Most of the delay is coming from the thoroughness of the revision in question. There's more than just Shadow and Doom being given their dues within Part 2, and I think the delay will be worth the quality of what's gonna get put out.

Agree with you on this match. As for mine, I love Silver vs Ness, but I also love Ness vs Frisk, so I'm a bit conflicted. I want Amy to come back against an opponent who will actually put up a fight, and the best I could find is May from Guilty Gear.

No I get that, if there's more information that you have in store outside of the general updates with Shadow and Black Doom then I'm perfectly fine with waiting a few more weeks for the CRT releases. Make it as great as you can, Shake.

Always, man!

After Shadow Gens, the ball will continue rolling. The benefit of so many large Sonic revisions is that it allows me to work on other projects for the future. For example, I've got about 3 characters with fully-prepared character revisions in place that have nothing to do with Shadow Gens Part 2.
Now imagine if the Movie DLC ends up adding information that applies to the CRT, I'll feel so sorry for you

We all know about the inconsistencies, and so are the staff. Whatever is done as of now will not be 100% consistent with either the original Japanese text or the English one, it'll be a mix of the two, alongside tons of contradictory opinions that might change all the time. It's just that we can't do anything about those.
 
One thing I really do wish going forward with Shadow is putting actual emphasis on Shadow being an actual speedster. People often forget that Shadow is actually fast and not just "Chaos Control The Hedgehog". Would be cool to see him using making use of his air shoes as well where he uses the energy generated from them to cook his enemies, use immediately jet propulsion to enhance his kicks/momentum, or for limited flight.

I also would like to see his movement style be touched up on a lot. He skates like a roller-skater/blader or ice skater, so I'd love to see more elements of that in there. Like recycling momentum, doing some roller-skating tricks (some even mixed in combat), or even using Chaos Control in cooler ways. Like imagine he rushes towards someone and attacks them before teleporting immediately after while carrying some of the momentum he had near them again and still facing them to hit them again.

So many cool ways to portray a speedster with roller-skating movement (that also benefits from having rocket shoe aspects), especially one that could also teleport.

In my headcanon, Shadow uses his air shoes to incinerate riff raff and flies a lot more. It seems to have gone overlooked that Shadow can use them to fly

Personally, Shadow's Chaos powers should be utilized in more versatile ways. It's only ever Chaos Spear and Time Stop. I liked his abilities from Sonic Battle, such as his attacks that warp space-time. And what happened to Chaos Blast?

If any, what is the implied fuel source of Shadow's air shoes? I just assume they're powered by his Chaos Energy because limited fuel has never been an issue for them

I just assume his shows work off of his Chaos Energy and they just "work" so long as he's able to still move, yeah.

Also, I like to think Shadow really uses flight when he needs to. I also think him using the jets for attacks would be something he uses for anyone since it's an advantageous form of attack in a given situation. Besides, that's cool to use against just about anyone.

Also I enjoy how his powers worked in Sonic Battle. They were the most sauciest moves in the game and he was high tier in the game, too. I'd still love to see his speed be taken into more account, really. He is tied with the fastest thing alive, so I think it'd be pretty cool honestly. Like some speed mixed with his own brand of martial arts. We definitely saw what Shadow could do in Dark Beginnings with just his actual combat ability alone.
 
Well guys turns out Sonic three is going to have multiple post credit scenes. So the SCU continues but I'm really hoping it stops at movie five because I don't want a phase four marvel situation to happen to Sonic.

Does anyone have a link to where Ian said that anything within the IDW comics that contradicts the games can be dismissed? Would be real useful. Thanks!
