The whole rings damage Transferal thing is a real double edged sword, it’s cool they can survive things up to 6-D but it makes “they survive hits from x enemy” less impactful as durability feats.

You can argue most Sonic characters are sort of glass canons as a result, which is a fair and thematically appropriate weakness to have considering their status as speedsters. More was gained than lost overall. The fact that they can hurt their opponents with physical attacks without hurting themselves still means their durabillity scales. Sonic especially makes up for it with his endurance, willpower, and having the most amount of rings. The whole rings damage Transferal thing is a real double edged sword, it’s cool they can survive things up to 6-D but it makes “they survive hits from x enemy” less impactful as durability feats.

That's the neat part. You don't.The rings seem kinda odd to gauge. If a Moto Bug & Shadow hit base Sonic in gameplay the result is the same,he loses rings. We know who is more powerful, but how do you measure how much force it would take for him to lose some from a narrative & not a gameplay standpoint? Someone with equal or greater stats?
I'm mean,he ate a Spirit Bomb from The End/Supreme while unconscious, but a random infantry class Badnik wouldn't even scratch him,let alone make him lose rings. That's the neat part. You don't.
I’m talking whether them needing rings to last in their Super States is a game mechanic or an actual thing in lore. The rings seem kinda odd to gauge.
