TBH Sonic doesn't really get lucky much. Especially considering that most of the time he beats someone, they're both at full power and using brute force.

Sure, Sonic may have evaded death by mimicking Shadow's chaos control in SA2 after watching Shadow pull it off (which further confirms Sonic has enough chaos energy to manipulate), but even still, the reason no one's been able to beat him is because this is the same guy that can fall from high above the clouds, face plant and act like nothing happened.

The same guy that beats down demi-gods & unnatural world destroyers with brute force and learns & adapts quickly to new situations. Because he learns quickly, he eventually learns the pattern his opponent uses and that's why he always wins. Not because of luck, but because he's simply physically & mentally strong as hell. He just never fears the fall nor does he ever give up.

That's why Sonic is such a great character

-witty and cocky to his opponents and enemies to show off his pride and confidence but he's able to because he has the right to do so and the power to back him up

-Nice and kind to his freinds and always rushing to save the world

-Even after all the shit Eggman puts Sonic through Sonic would never kill him

-Seems like just a blue hedgehog that stops an evil doctor but no he's a super powerful being that slayed a giant water monster that flooded an entire city, literally stopped satan from destroying the planet,A giant robot that was eating their timeline and a giant sun god that was going to devour all time and space within the Sonic Multiverse.Sounds like a badass to me

-He shrugs off traumatic shit like a pro, only breaking down when no one is around.

-He's 15 and has no parents yet he managed to live on his own for all this time AND take care of a fox cub before he was able to take care of himself.

-He's the perfect example of someone who's balanced being a smartass, doing what he personally feels is right even if people may disagree with his methods and caring for others, as well as the planet he lives on and other worlds he's traveled to, all at the same time without hurting anyone unless they're being a threat to his or someone's world.

-He's like the support friend who manages to make things better just by being there for you and being himself.

Are we starting to sound like Amy Rose & Tails?

I believe the whole "never giving up" motif works with Sonic's character better than most characters as that's literally reflected in real life as well. Sonic Team has a rough history. The jump to 3-D was pretty laughable compared to Mario. The marketing appeal towards a more mature audience with Shadow the Hedgehog made them known as the company that breeded teenage edgelords. 06 was an unspeakable mess. And now it doesn't seem any better with that Sonic movie. But despite this, the team has never given up and kept pushing on no matter how many people pointed and laughed. Their spirit of tenacity is extremely strong, and it's reflected well with their mascot Sonic. He's never given up no matter how bad it seemed like when he went up against gods despite being a mortal animal, or when the world was already taken over. Sonic might go through some rough things in the future, but as long as they keep pushing, the Sonic spirit will never die.

Oh, yeah, I once saw this comment saying Sonic could've escaped if he hadn't tried saving Pikachu and he was "just trying to be a good person". 2 problems I had this comment is:

A) This Sonic is likely not nearly as a fast as the canon version and is claimed to cap at "supersonic" speeds in base and "nearly the speed of light" in his super form (both of which they basically copied from the Sonic bio website) so he probably wouldn't have escaped. The Canon version though...

B) Thing about Sonic is that he doesn't have to "try" to be a good person. He just is. The guy lives on impulse. Even his song states "just living by my own feeling" and "only have steadfast heart of gold".

Random question, but what does everyone think of Sonic Underground's Sonia and Manic? I think they're cool-ist concepts but their characters designs make Scourge look as awesome as Shadow.

They're definitely cool concepts that I'd like to see in the games in some shape or form. Mainly b/c the music in Sonic Underground, at least from my recent memory of it, is... interesting and I think they'd work better if they weren't in something not heavily music based (Yeah, I know they're weapons are actual instruments and I would love to see them in action in a game, but not a musical every 5-10 minutes).

@MYHERO that's why I laugh when people say "Sonic Is Dead" cuase Sonic would have died a long time ago yet always came back for more.

@DaBoi I once saw an spanish video talking about this, I think Sonic couldn't have escaped even with his canon speed cause Kirby needed to warp out of the way, if he had Chaos Control then maybe he could.

@Maverick I used to have an attachment to Underground cause it technically introduced me to the franchise, nowadays I lump it with the other DIC cartoons (bad), if I want a family for Sonic I use the Shogakukan manga, headcanon or flat out don't give him one like in game canon.

It was confirmed in an interview that they had Kirby escape because he seemed to be only one that can warp. Which is ******* bullshit when you realize Sonic has dimensional travel.

...Doesn't Palutena have a literal move called "Warp"?

Aside from Super Sonic possibly ending the fight very quickly, why didn't they have any character that can transform... transform? It would've at least gave a clear perspective on just how threatening Galeem truly is.

What do you mean? There was a transformation, Snake turned into his low 1-C box form, and Galeem still devoured him.

Damn I almost forgot. You right. Smh, this site is trash. How is Galeem not low 1-C yet? Watch them say killing Snake's box is an outlier.

I was trying to set up a joke about clowing on 1-C Galeem being an actual thing in other sites, but I realized that's against the rules.

Holy shit, I didn't know Ian started from fanfictions. Anyways I'm sure a mere 100 signatures won't get this to fly. That being said though,

"Ian Flynn stated that he wants no lore in the new sonic comics, and wants it to be action packed with everything from the games."

If that is true, then we can probably say goodbye to OP Sonic, which is a damm shame.

At least OP Base Sonic which I can partially live with. Can't wait to see Super Sonic. Just hope the stories in the comic don't stray too far away from the games.

"Yesterday, February 15th, Ian Flynn showed his true colors in an interview with game informer. Ian Flynn stated that he wants no lore in the new sonic comics, and wants it to be action packed with everything from the games." (That's... That's lore. It's just from the games. Game lore.)

"Ian Flynn does not deserve to be a head writer for IDW. He is nothing but a fan boy who has lied and weaseled his way into things, begging Sega to have him write for the games and not even bothering to ask Sega what they want from the new comic he is working on." (He doesn't need to ask SEGA what specific thing they want in the comics, they just give him the rights to some of their property and he gets to choose how he uses said property)

"I feel it's for the best interest for those who want the comic to continue as long as the Archie comic did, for Ian to be removed from head writer position of the IDW Sonic comics." (BAKA! Ian Flynn has written everything issue 160 and onward. It only ended because Ken Penders was salty/selfish enough to send a lawsuit against Archie for his characters.)

Yeah the whole existence for this petitition doesn't seem that fully fleshed out. He just says it's not gonna continue long without any evidence backing it up.

But now that I seen Ian's comment, I feel like this changes a lot of my expectations. I doubt Sonic will even reach tier 2 now until Sonic Team writes a game with a tier 2 villain. And considering how Ian underpowered his characters in IDW I'm pretty sure super forms will only reach tier 5 or 4 now.

Yeah so I'm not completely on that fence yet. But as long as the stories are scaled down in the main games, then we might never reach tier 2.

I'd say it would be a LONG time before Sonic (or rather 'Super Sonic') does anything insane, but wouldn't say never. The series is still pretty young (I say a series has reached its 'older' state at 50 issues).
